KICS - keep in character
society
Yep,
it's back! KICS .... the Keep In Character Society.
This little idea had a bit of a shortlived career a
while back, but due to some petty flaming and mockery
by other sites, it was taken down. However, I
recently realized that this was a stupid thing to do,
and that people should be allowed to support an idea
no matter how much flaming it takes.
In
Character ... I think that's what the whole problem
was. People were taking KICS to mean that you had to
stay true to the character judging by only what was
seen of them in film, cartoon, book, etc, with no
room for development. This was a false judgement.
KICS is all for character development ... concievable
character development. Let's put it this way - if
Christian had such a stalwart, wonderful love affair
with Satine, would he go making eyes at the
Argentinian? Prrrrobably not. Should two sworn
enemies stop in the middle of a heated battle and
start kissing each other (issues of yaoi and yuri
completely aside)? No! It just doesn't seem concievable.
As for yaoi and yuri, that's perfectly fine - KICS is
anything but homophobic. ... The word of the day with
this lil' online society is concievable, if
you hadn't noticed. If you can honestly step back,
look at a work, and say that the director/writer
would place their characters in the situation you
have given them, then you belong in KICS. We're
not condoning people who disagree, here. We're
just stating our opinion.
If you want to be a KICS
member, go ahead and take or make a banner for your
page. Link back to ImageNation just like you would
with a site banner. So far I've just got my little
Moulin Rouge-style banner, but that's because I have
to make new ones. You don't have to let me know that
you've joined, but I would appreciate it, just to
know someone agrees with me. :)
Keep on KIC'in!
