The IMA is the exclusive promoter of the . Students may sit to take the exam. The the education requirement is a BS degree from an accredited organization you do not need 150 hours of education to sit for the CMA exam.

You do not have to be a CMA to be a member of the IMA (membership is for anyone with an interest in accounting and finance)

On Wednesday April 29, 2009 The Calumet Chapter of the IMA will come to Purdue University Calumet for the Purdue Calumet Hospitality Tourism Management Classt (HTM) grand finale event. Prior to the dinner we are delighted to announce that Dr. Karl Reichardt, CMA of Valpariso University will give us a preview of the 2008 Accounting Salary Survey which will be published in a summer issue of Strategic Finance. Dr. Karl Reichardt, CMA has authored this piece for 20 years. This year will be his last year. He has promised to keep his presentation light for the spouses/guests in attendance. Dr. Reichardt's presentation will begin in the Purdue University Calumet Cafeteria at 6:30 p.m. If you simply with to here Dr. Karl Reichardt speak on he 2008 Accounting Salary Surve there is no charge.

At 7:30 p.m. those joing us for dinner will be seated. The menu is as follows Limited seating is available. The cost is $25.00 for all attendees spouses/guests are encouraged to come to this event which has become a Calumet Chapter Tradition. You are also welcome to come alone as several of us will. The theme is Masqurade Ball. The menu is as follows Mixed Greens with Balsamic Vinigrette, Crab Cakes, Fresh Tomato Soup, Rack of Lamb with Herb Crust or Apple Brandy Chicken or the vegetarian Eggplant Parmigiana. Desserts White Chocolate and Raspberry Parfaits or Chocolate Boxes. The Speciality Bread will be Cranberry Orange Bread. On Wednesday May 6, 2009 The Calumet Chapter of the IMA comes to Governor's State University to hold a joint meeting with the Governor's State University Finance and Accounting Club. This meeting will be at 5:00 p.m. The topic will be Benefits of CMA certification and how to obtain CMA certification. The speaker will be Calumet Chapter President Mark T. Camarena, CMA. A $10.00 donation is requested for this event. Portions of the proceeds will be donated to Governor's State University. On Tuesday May 19, 2009 The Calumet Chapter of the IMA has our Concluding Celebration at Gino's Steakhouse at 1259 Joliet Street (US 30) Dyer IN 46311. We want to thank everyone for making 2008-2009 a great year in Calumet Chapter History we invite spouses/guests to join us on this very special night when we welcome "The Process Specialist" Leanne Hogland-Smith, President of Advance Systems whose Column Appears weekly in the Post-Tribune.

She will be speaking on "Life is a Journey Will you have a Smooth Ride or a Bumpy One?" Leanne's first book Unlocking Sales Results: The Keys to Becoming the Red Jacket in a Sea of Gray Suits is scheduled to be published in April 2009. Leanne Hoagland-Smith has agreed (as long as everything goes according to schedule) to come before this meeting and have books available for purchase which she will sign. On January 20, 2009 for the 9th year the Calumet Chapter's very own Howard D. Ellison, CPA,CMA,CVA of Wermer, Rogers, Doran and Ruzon LLC (A proud sponsor of the Calumet Chapter of the IMA for many years) presented "The Annual Tax Update" Howard brang with him a 81 page bound booklet which highlighted the changes in the tax law and provided refreshers about previous tax law. We are greatful for Howard for making this presentation and look forward to him presenting the 10th Annual "Tax Update" in 2010. The Calumet Chapter thanks Tim Anderson (on the left near the screen), CPA partner with the Accounting Firm of Clifton Gunderson in Schererrville Indiana and J. Brian Hittinger attorney with the law firm of Krieg Devault in Schererrville Indiana for helping us meee the 2 hout ethics requirement for CMA certificate hoders. On November 19, 2008 both spoke at the Amarillo Roadhouse. It was very interesting to learn about the ethics of a CPA as compared to the IMA code of ethics as well as the numerous ethics laws lawyers our subject too. We filled the back room at the Amarillo Roadhouse in Schererville and hopefully achieved our goal of informing as well as having some fun.

The Calumet Chapter Thanks David Marshall Principal with Infotech and a Board Member of the Chicagoland Chapter of Cerfied Fraud Examiners for his presentation on "College Student Night and Member Appreciation Night I".

"Using Internal Controls to Prevent Fraud" which was given on Tuesday October 21, 2008 at JJ Kelley's in Lansing Illinois. We also wish to thank all of you that came out.
