Once upon a time, I was really really cute

Allow me to introduce myself, my name is Marie Denise Velasquez. Denise will do.

My official nickname is Mariden, it's a combination of the 'Marie' and 'Denise'. But, living on with the Filipino tradition of repeating single syllables to come up with nicknames, my relatives started calling me Den-Den. Sometimes, my tita's and tito's still call me by that name, but since I rarely see them naman, I usually hear people refer to me as Denise. Except for my school teachers, it's a toss-off between Marie and Velasquez. Pili lang kayo. Then again, there's the time when your parents are really furious at you for some thing you're not so sure you did, I get demoted to Marie Denise whenever that time comes.

I was born on September 09, 1981. If you're into astrology and all that cosmic stuff, that makes me a Virgo. I'm not sure if that means anything to me, but if you're eager to give me cosmic advice you can e-mail me at iluvjae@excite.com. I'd be happy to hear from you. Anyway, going back to my birthday, I'm the eldest of three children. I've got a younger sister at Ateneo de Manila University, yes she's an Atenean, and no we don't set up camp on La Salle-Ateneo UAAP Games, and I have a younger brother at De La Salle Zobel.

Me and My sister I attended my first class at Golden Values School. It was about ten minutes away from the house, and I had classes in the morning, most of which I don't remember anything about. But I do remember my lunchbox at that time, and I remember seeing it last after I graduated elementary. It was a tough plastic kind of lunchbox, with the character Tiny Candy on the lid. Wala lang. In kindergarten I had a red tin box that looked like a double-deck bus. I was in Elizabeth Seton School that year. The next year, Senior Prep, I enrolled at De La Salle Zobel School. From that school year, until this day, I'm in La Salle. On the side, I went to learn absolutely nothing about sports, or the fine arts. Actually, the truth of the matter is I did study swimming, but since I wasn't so good at it, I wouldn't think that I'd be good enough a swimmer to call what I knew something sporty. I also learned to play the piano! I went plink-and-plank on the keyboards, I barely practiced, and it was a choice of screwing up or chickening out on my recitals. More>>
