ANTONY & THE JOHNSONS
When was the last time you fell in love with a record album, that all you could do was to listen to it over and over again?
" I am a Bird now ", which features a photo cover of Candy Darling (Warhol's muse) is the latest prove that  Antony and the Johnsons have indeed found the way to our deepest emotions.
Antony, with his ageless strong voice that express loneliness with a longing for belonging, but with no desperation, was born in England, raised in California and moved to New York City in 1990. He came to the scene through solo performances at the Pyramid. Being Boy George one of his main inspirations, he assembled The Johnsons and the first album was released (Blue Angel ).
They describe themselves as "an utterly genderqueen musical sensation"; I couldn't agree more. Singing as a boy, a man and a woman, he touches the gender boundaries with an emotional appeal, that shows how profound a clever work can be, as he presents us with his perception of the path taken from boyhood to womanhood.     On " I am a Bird now ",Antony has collaborations from Lou Reed, Rufus Wainwright, Devendra Banhart and his hero Boy George.
I suggest you to take a look at "The Lake" song that was released last year so that you can  experience the captivating voice of Antony, with animation by Adam Shecter.
Anthony has a solo show on March 26 at Budapest, and with The Johnsons on April 15th in Rotterdam, and on the 16th at Queen Elizabeth Hall in London.
