I’m very sorry
about this chapter-it’s very short and kinda boring but it’s one of those
chapters you need if you’re ever going to understand what’s happening! R+R! zee

Starr was running along by the stream, struggling over
the now huge boulders, which just an hour ago she had thought were slightly
large pebbles. The three boys were flying rapidly overhead, and Starr was
struggling to keep up. Eventually, Ben doubled back and helped her over the
somewhat slimy pebble.
“Are you okay?” he asked.
“I think so” she panted. “I wish I
had wings too though, it’d be so much easier to get wherever we’re going then”
“Want a ride?” he smiled shyly, and
finally flushed all blue.
“Yes please!”
“Put your arms-loosely-around my
neck, and I’ll hold your waist. Hope you don’t mind flying upside down!” They
held each other close, and Ben took off again, desperate to catch up with Paul
and Christian. As they flew, Starr thought she might as well find out some things
that were playing on her mind.
“Ben? Where are we headed?”
“To our valley. It’s gorgeous, a
river runs through it, the hills on either side are always green, and the trees
are tall and leafy. You’ll love it”
“I’m sure I will. Ben?”
“Yes?”
“I don’t mean to be rude, but, well,
you look like this human called Ben, and Paul looks like a human called Paul,
and Christian looks like a human called Christian-”
“Now, how would you know a thing
like that?” Ben smiled.
“They’re in a band together with a guy
called Mark”
Ben turned purple, almost pink,
momentarily.
“Paul” he called, and Paul swooped
over to join them. “Paul, explain the fairy-human thing”
“Which one would that be?” Paul
asked, amused.
“The one which explains why we look
like some humans in a band”
“Ah, well Starr, there’s an ancient
script which says that for every human, there’s a fairy counterpart. But
something’s been bothering me about that”
“What’s that?” Starr asked,
intrigued.
“There’s no fairy called Starr.
There’s a fairy for every human, but no fairy for you. I wish I knew more about
it, then I could tell you why that is, but I don’t. It seems like some bad
magic is awry, by my speculations”
“How comes you know so much more
than Ben and Christian?”
“’Coz I’m a green rainbow fairy.
It’s King Mark’s idea. Rainbow fairies are pretty special, like I said before .
. . I think I said before anyway. So King Mark decided to make us even more
special, and gave each colour a particular characteristic. Red rainbow fairies
have passion, orange rainbow fairies have courage, yellow’s have honesty,
green’s wisdom, blue’s loyalty and purple’s have honour”
“That’s only six colours, I thought
there were seven colours in a rainbow”
“No” Paul laughed. “Only six, but
the blue’s and purple’s are such gossips that they blend together and appear as
a seventh colour”
“There’s nothing wrong with us
gossiping” Ben stated indignantly, flushing purple again.
“As long as there’s no Goblins,
Gnomes, Imps or Elves nearby”
“What about the sprites?” Starr
laughed, thinking of ‘brownies’.
“They’re some of our greatest
allies, apart from pixies and country creatures”
“Are there only fairies for
rainbows?”
“No, of course not, King Mark is a
silver fairy. There are fairies for everything imaginable. And where we cannot
work our magic, the sprites and pixies take over. Look” Paul dipped down into
the stream mid-speech, the stream, which now looked like a raging river. He
rose again, with two silvery yet almost invisible creatures.
“This is a water fairy, my good
friend Heidi, and this” he nodded to the sprite in between himself and Heidi,
who looked slightly mischievous but friendly none-the-less “is Toby, a water
sprite, and a good friend of Ben’s. Heidi, Toby, this is Starr, a now shrunken
human. She’s come to help us rescue King Mark”
Heidi and Toby waved, then dived
back into the river. Paul smiled at Starr.
“Almost there”
Starr smiled back, and turned to
Ben.
“Are you okay?”
“Yes, of course”
“I’m not too heavy?”
“No, you’re fine” he smiled “And if
you weren’t, Chris is flying underneath us to catch you if you fall”
Starr
looked down and saw Christian flying underneath them.
“I thought he’d been pretty quiet”
“Christian is. He doesn’t usually
speak unless he senses someone’s about to lie, or if someone asks him a
question”
Ben swooped down with Paul and
Christian and landed on some moss, and finally let go of Starr. Paul walked
over to a hanging honeysuckle and pushed the flower aside, saying:
“Starr, welcome to Fairy Valley”
