Introduction......

What is I Home? I Home stands for Intelligent Home. The idea behind the Intelligent Home project is to build a security system and install it inside any given house. This security system will be incorporated with a voice automation system. When the security system installations are completed, the voice automation will take over the operations, serving as the primary controller of the Intelligent Home.

The Intelligent Home will consist of a passive infrared motion detector (PIR), voice activation door bell system, digital light switch, magnetic door sensor system, temperature control sensor, perimeter detector alarm system, audio light alarm system, sound alarm, voice automation, and a control box.

What does iHome do....??

As the owner approaches the front porch, the passive infrared motion detector (PIR) will turn on the front porch lights through motion. The passive infrared motion detector (PIR) sees the infrared emitted by an intruder’s body heat. The sensor then detects a sharp increase in infrared energy. There will always be fluctuation of heat energy in an area, but the PIR detector is designed to trigger the alarm only if infrared energy levels change very rapidly. We will use the PIR to turn on the front porch lights instead of activating the alarm.

When the owner or guest stands in front of the door, they can say a word or phrase. If the word or phrase matches with the computers it will then activate the voice recognition system and notify the resident that they have a guest. If the guest says a wrong word than the resident will never be notified of a person even being outside his house.

When the owner or guest walks in the house, they can turn the lights on through the voice activation system by simply saying lights on. The I Home consist of four rooms and each room will have their own light switch. This is where the digital switch acts as the main switch and controls all the four rooms. With a simple push of the switch, the light will activate the switch on, and pushing it again will turn off the light, just as a real light switch. Each light switch is independent of each other and can be turned on or off independently.

Magnetic Door Switch Sensor...

The magnetic door sensor switch will send an audio beep or alarm if an intruder walks through the door while the alarm is still activated. This is a simple idea that hinders any intruder with the proper security code or identification.

Temperature Controlled Sensor.

The temperature controlled sensor is not part of the alarm system. This is complementary for the resident. The sensor or the thermostat is preset by manufactures to operate at room temperature, which is 72.5, and when the room temperature increases it will activate the fan, cooling the room temperature down to normal again. When the temperature gets back to room temperature the fan is then shut off.

P-Detector.....

The perimeter detector is more or less just like a motion sensor. This perimeter sensor only works on short ranges and will sense any change within that perimeter. Once the phototransistor detects any light disturbance within that perimeter range, the audio alarm will sound or turn on any hardware that the resident has already set for their own preferences.

Audio Light Alarm.....

The audio light alarm receiver will be installed in the most confidential room that contains all the important documentations and precious items. One of the rooms in the I Home will be totally dark. And when intruders approach the room, with the intention to turn on a flash light, matches, or any light source it will sound the alarm. This audio light alarm senses light changes within the room perimeter and is light sensitive.

The sound alarm is your regular hardware such as speaker, flashing light, or voice modulator. This sound alarm is connected with the circuit and controlled by the control box (the main switch) or voice automation control.

Main Controller System....

The Control Box will be incorporated with the voice automation system. This will be the brain of the Intelligent Home. The voice automation will be determined by how to sound the alarm through various methods either by digital voice, siren, or page etc.. The voice automation can also be capable of turning the security system on or off through various methods of programming (please see software).

Layouts....

Once the basic layouts are in place, we can improve the Intelligent Home to serve the project needs of any home owner. However, if there is room for improvement or enhancement, there should be a discussion among the project teams and members to produce a better product.

The Intelligent Home’s project team had one goal and that is to complete the project on the required schedule by the instructor and it must work.

Computer Interfacing....

As with all great systems computers are inevitable. The world's best automated control system invented and still being utilized in all facets of the industry. Ours is not different. We have integrated the computer in such a fashion that all of the circuitry forementioned is easily capable of voice activation or direct programming interactivity.
