Ukrainian Agriculture The agriculture sector in Ukraine contributes 12.3% of the GDP and employs an estimated 24.0% of the labor force. The key primary food crops produced are potatoes, sugar beets, wheat, barley and maize. The primary meat products are beef and veal, pork, chicken, mutton and rabbit. The largest (in value terms) agricultural exports in 1997 were refined sugar, raw sugar, beef and veal, sunflower seed and fish.
