Those Who Have Gone to the Heaviside
The journey to the Heaviside Layer is a bittersweet time. It is the start of a new Jellicle Life, but it also brings separation from those in this life. Here you can see just some of the wonderful people who have helped to bring the magic of CATS to people around the world, who have passed to the Heaviside Layer. Most of these people passed too soon for most of our tastes, some tragically and sadly. But CATS are everlasting, and these wonderful people will forever be dancing along in our hearts as long as the magic of CATS is there to inspire us to keep them in our thoughts and hearts.
Timothy Scott
Timothy Scott brought the character of Mr. Mistoffelees alive for hundereds of CATS fans in the Origional Broadway Cast. He also toured in Dancin', A Chorus Line and King of Hearts. He also had a part in the film Annie. It was during his time in CATS when Mr. Mistoffelees was a major male singing roll, as well as a demanding dance part. He was the performer who narrated The Old Gumbie Cat and Mungojerrie and Rumpelteazer. For many CATS fans, Timothy Scott is the standard by which all other Mistoffelees' have been measured by from that point on. It was his desire that everyone do their best to live their most magical dream.
Laurie Beechman
Laurie Beechman was Grizabella in the First National Tour of CATS in the 1983 tour in Boston. She performed there for six months until she replaced Betty Buckly on Broadway, where she played the roll until 1988. She later returned from May to September in 1997. She was a member of the cast when CATS surpassed A Chorus Line as the longest running musical on Boadway. Other notable musical perfomances were Les Miserables and Joseph and the Amazing Technocolor Dreamcoat. She was also invited to sing at Bill Clinton's inagurational ball in 1997. She was considered a roll - model for peopel with ovarian cancer and was a visible activist for the cause. In 1998 she passed away from ovarian cancer at the age of 44.

Rene Clement
The Origional Broadway Cast Coricopat/Mungojerrie also played rolls in A Chorus Line and Play Me A Country Song. He also played Benvolio in Romeo and Juliet and Jesus in Godspell. He passed away due to complications from AIDS.


Steven Gelfer
Broadway's first Carbucketty also appeared in West Side Story, Gypsy, The Begger's Opera, American Dance Machine, New York City Opera and Whoopee. He was a graduate from New York University and Indiana University. In addition to being a performer, Gelfer also coriographed productions for Equal Liberty Theater, Pittsburg Civic Light Opera, and Lakewood the State Theater of Maine.
Reed Jones
Broadway's origional Skimbleshanks performed in other Broadway productions, such as Peter Pan, West Side Story and Play Me A Country Song. He was in a national tour of A Chorus Line. He performed with the New York City Opera in Street Scene for PBS. He also coriographed and directed Radio City's Count Blaise Tribute.
