TEACHER'S APPRECIATION WEEK IDEAS


- Banners
Decorate large butcher block paper and hang outside your teachers door. 
You can have one for each day or one for the week.  If you want the kids to be involved,
have the kids help decorate them.

- Who's that Baby??

Ask teachers a few weeks in advance to give you a large picture of themselves as a baby. 
Have them write down little things about themselves.  Place pictures on poster boards and
hang up around the school.  Have a contest and see what teacher and what child gets the most right.

- Ice Cream Social

Provide ice cream and sodas for the teachers to come down and make ice cream floats during the day.

- Free Car Wash

Hold a writing contest for the students weeks in advance.  Have them write why they think
their teacher is the best  The top 4 winners teachers get their car washed. Or have a car
wash for all the teachers.  Kids who are interested in helping can join a
contest and those who win get to spend a few hours washing cars!

-Gift mixes in a jar
Cookie mixes, soup mixes, and brownie mixes are not just for Christmas anymore!
These make great gifts for teachers who usually do not have the time to cook very often!

-Gift Certificates
Gift Certificates is probably the one the most enjoyed gifts a teacher will receive! 
They can use them quite meals out with their family, buy school supplies for their classroom and
even buy fun things for their classroom.  Shopping is always more fun when it's not your own money!

-Photo Album/Scrapbook
Ask parents at the beginning of the year and all through out the year to send in any pictures taken at school. 
Compile pictures into a photo album or be creative and do a scrapbook.  It's a gift teacher's will treasure for a lifetime.

-Have School Supplies Donated!

Room moms can do this for just their class, or it can be done school
wide and then divided and distributed evenly. 

The following is a list of items you could ask for:
pencils, colored copy paper, standard staples, eraser board markers, crayons,
markers, colored pencils, glue, glue sticks, post-it notes, file folders, tape,
note pads, anti-bacterial soap, air freshners, paper towels,
tissues, highlighters, zip-top bags in all sizes

Words of Appreciation
Have students decorate a cake, cupcakes or cookies with words of appreciation.

Say Thanks
Send a notice home with all students to request that their parents take time to write a personal note to their child's teacher, thanking them for the special time and effort they have provided through out the year.

Small Gifts of Appreciation
Each morning of Teacher Appreciation Week, place a small gift on the teacher's desk. 
Example: apples, balloons, pencils, coupons for ice cream cones, flowers, plants, stickers,
bookmarks, keychains, notepads and such.

"Adopt" a Teacher
Ask a local business to help show appreciation to the teacher's by "adopting" a teacher for the week. 
Display student's drawings, cards and stories about their teacher in the store.

Make a List
Work with students to develop a list of five nice things to do for their teacher.  Have each student pledge to do one each during Teacher Appreciation Week. Be sure to help them identify realistic activities that they can do.

Make-A-Meal
Get together with parents and make-a-meal for the teacher.  Dinner, dessert, drinks and more.
Bring it each day at the end of the school day in an ice cooler.  Teachers take home cooler everyday.
Eat, enjoy and return cooler in the morning.  What a perfect gift!
