In
these 53 years of Independence, we have grown leaps and slipped bounds in
various areas, but till date, we remain one of the largest democratic nations. No
other country can draw on such a wealth of traditions and cultures, so many
regional forms of dances and dress, and no other country in the world can
parade so many ethnically different people. On Jan. 26, 2003, back home our
folks will be watching the Republic day celebration, which has rightly become
one of the greatest shows on earth drawing thousands of spectators and millions
of television viewers. I still remember my sweet Jan. 26 holiday when I hold my
filter coffee (courtesy: Mom) and sit in front of our famous solidaire TV to
watch the Republic day parade.
We
wanted to bring this festive mood to Boise and celebrate our rich culture,
provide an opportunity to every individual to dress and dance, celebrate our
kids and showcase their talents and at the same time exchange and give
something back to the community that we live in. In this past year we have had
two quality entertainment programs, Holi in early March and Diwali function in
November. The response from individuals as participants, volunteers, and
audience was impressive. On the foundation of such impressive programs and with
the confidence in our strong, talented, and motivated community, we would like
to announce the birth of another event, “Indian Cultural Night 2003”.
