Icing - Recipes From The World of Figure Skating
Why would anyone in their right mind write a cookbook of recipes from the world of figure skating. Well, first of all, we’re not sure I’m “in my right mind”. Secondly, I’m nosey, I guess. If you bought this cookbook, you must be nosey too. Good! I like that in a person.

It all started when I had a long conversation with Elvis Stojko’s mom, aunt, and some of their friends at a “meet and greet” a couple of years ago. Since we were all of Eastern European background, talk got around to food and recipes. Later, I began to wonder what Elvis likes to eat. That’s the nosey part. I thought about the diverse ethnic make-up of the people in skating and thought it would be interesting to see what they like to cook and eat.  So, the idea came to gather recipes and let you in on the secrets too.

Letters were sent to virtually every well-known (and not so well-known) skating personality I could think of. I was unable to find a few addresses and many were out of the country. Some were sent second letters and I spoke with a lot of the folks personally whenever the opportunity arose. I’m sure I seemed like a nag to a few. In the book, I’ve included every recipe that was received, added a few photos, and some notes that you may find interesting.
