Megoggs

You can start to meet Megogg at level 83. Megogg packs no longer exist.

With 200 luck, Megoggs will always strike first in combat. Every turn, Megoggs will do the following 7 attacks:
- 2 claw attacks (Melee, Fire)
- 1 squirt attack (Ranged, Water)
- 2 bite attacks (Melee, Fire)
- 2 eyebeam attacks (Ranged, Energy)

>

Each of these 7 attacks does 30-130 damage for a total of 210-910 possible damage in a single turn.

A dangerous opponent, Megoggs can easily dish out 500+ damage to you before you even start to fight if you enter the battle with substandard defences.

Although it has only 50 dex and 200 luck (+23% bth), it apparently have some further hidden to-hit bonuses. With Golden Set (57 defence) and 150 dex (+15 blocking), my characters are still only blocking an average of around 2 out of 7 hits.

Battle Strategies

Megoggs does Melee and Ranged damage, so it would be good to have high defences in those two areas. MAF with 40 melee and 25 ranged defence makes a good offensive armour here. Invisibility Cloak with 40 melee and ranged is also good for spell casters.

WWF and Canine Warriors would make poor choices here despite their higher offensive values. Megoggs does fire, water and energy... all three of which are weaknesses of these two canine armour. You will not want to amplify the damage done by Megoggs.

Spells are generally the fastest damage dealers. Vulnerable to fire, light and darkness, spells like Solar Incinerator, Sunburst and Darkness Dragon Ambush are very useful. 3-4 shots of spell castings would generally be sufficient to take down a Megogg. With some luck and a pet or guest helping, 2 turns might even be enough if you make some good rolls.

Without spells, just pick the highest damage weapon you have amongst Fire, Light and Darkness and hope you can kill the bugger fast enough.

Don't bother to summon pets or guests if they are not already out. The extra damage they do will not be enough to compensate for the damage that the Megogg can do in that one extra turn you give it.

Heal wounds would generally be not effective as well as Megogg's damage each turn will outweigh the amount healed. Unless you are trying to buy a few extra turns for pets and guests to attack or hope for quadruple healing, don't really try this.

If you have Golden Set, things are slightly different. Heal Wounds would be effective as you can heal more than you are damaged. This will directly give you extra chance for a quadruple healing without any extra risks of dying. The extra turns for your pets to attack might as also help.

Megogg(2) are a much more fearsome opposition. I can only say good luck to you if you don't have Golden Plate and Shield. I had a 1400 life character chopped down to half life because he went in right after login. Even Golden Plate and Shield didn't help then.

Goggs

You can start to meet Gogg at level 60 and Gogg(2) at level 75.

Goggs are somewhat similar to Megoggs. They also always strike first and does the same seven attacks every turn, except that their claw and bite attacks are both Earth element instead of Fire. Each hit from a Gogg does 20-70 damage for a total possible 140-490 damage, which is nothing to scoff at either.

Strategy-wise, whatever holds for Megoggs would also work for Goggs. In addition, WWF and Canine Warrior now becomes rather reasonable armour to use since they offer good protection against Earth (4/7 of a gogg's attacks).

As their hits are weaker, they will pose a lot less problems for higher level characters but will probably still be a stunner for the characters that first meet them in Random Adventures.

Little Gogg

The young a Gogg is still a slight menace for very low level characters. Every turn it does two attacks -- a squirt attack (Ranged, Water) and an eyebeam attack (Ranged, Energy), each doing 5-35 damage.

Conclusion

This is the most damaging monster in the entire game but if you are able to defeat Megoggs, they are certainly a very worthwhile fight. 1700 or 3400 exp for just a few turns of battle is probably as fast as a gain as you can get. Have fun, and Battle On!
