Which of the golden relics to buy first?

Golden is the best shield for almost all situations with good defences and defence modifiers. While it has no offensive value, it will be very useful in helping you survive and thus kill more effectively, whether you are a mage or a warrior. For the relatively cheap price of 300k, it is a rather worthwhile investment.

Golden Axe is by far the best melee light weapon. At 8-30 light damage and a very powerful special, it will greatly increase your killing speed against monsters weak to light if you are a warrior. The high base damage, particularly, makes it a good weapon to use with WWF, which is the most offensive armor in the game. Although the price is steep, the increase in killing efficiency against monsters weak to light will help you get the other relics faster.

Golden Plate is also hands-down the best defensive armor in the game. However, as it only does 130% random damage, it pales as compared to the offensive strengths of WWF. Although it ensures survival and has good applications in places like Random Adventures, Granemor Cemetery and the Pits, these are not the best places to hunt for gold. For gold hunting, there's simply no replacement for offence.

For a mage (or hybrid focused more on Int), I would recommend buying the relics in the order Shield -> Plate -> Axe (optionally). The shield will provide sufficient defences to let you pull off the victories with less worries about dying. Thereafter, the only useful piece of relic left would be the Golden Plate, which is what you will be spending most of your time in, especially as you would be casting spells most of the time. This is usually not a very difficult decision to make.

For a warrior (or hybrid focused more on Str), I would recommend buying the relics in the order Shield -> Axe -> Plate instead. The shield would serve as a temporary defence stop as in the case above. If you are purely going for gold and want to buy all three pieces of relics, the Axe should be your next buy. Although it only has application against one element of monsters, you will see a very significant increase in killing efficiency there. The Plate on the other hand is inferior to WWF for collecting gold as the WWF would allow you to kill faster (as much as 25-30% faster) and thereby gathering a lot of more gold in the process.

However, if the bulk of your time is spent in Random Adventures or the Cemetery, Shield -> Armor -> Plate would probably be the best bet as you would need the Golden Plate to survive most of the time in the more difficult RA encounters.
