The annual Gulf News Fun Drive involves a day and a half of desert driving. There are usually about 750 vehicles involve; the demand for places is always high. Places are snapped up quickly once the official announcement is made.
As usual, conditions are challenging in places, with a significant number of 4x4s getting stuck from time to time. Fortunately help is always nearby, so no vehicles are lost to the shifting sands.
Have a look at this Gulf News archive for a bit more information.
I have now left the region. Look here to see where I will be driving in future.
Cruising around the eastern Indonesian islands ... no 4x4 involved!
Please come back again. .
