The pair were removed from the stadium while Galatasaray captain Hakan Sukur kissed Wise on the head in gratitude.}]
In an article headed "Applause for Wise", the Sabah daily said: "The Chelsea captain downed a terrorist who wanted to stage an action on the pitch", while the Fotomac sports paper added: "Wise wins our hearts".
More than 30,000 people have died in 15 years of conflict between Turkish forces and the Kurdish Workers Party the PKK, who seek Kurdish self rule and have sought to highlight their cause in other football matches involving Turkish sides.
