Time for a review of lap swimming etiquette!
Welcome back, swimmers!

STROKE & TURN CLINIC is underway and will run through October 29th.

COMPETITIVE TEAM SEASON - starts on November 2, 2009.  In the fall/winter, we participate in the Pioneer Valley Swim League which is comprised of 14 local swim teams.  Swimmers must participate in at least 4 meets to qualify for PVSL Championship which is currently scheduled for January 30-31, 2010.

Registration Information can be found here.
We have a
meet schedule.

Our first swim meet is scheduled for Saturday, November 7th against the Springfield Sharks!

SWIM TEAM PARENT INFORMATION NIGHT

Tues, Oct. 27, 2009 (tentative)
6:30 pm at the MRHS pool

This brief information session is open to any parent whose child is considering joining the team.  Get all of your questions answered, find out how our swim meets run, learn what you can do as a Falcon Swim Club parent, and more.

Here's a handy TEAM CALENDAR for your fridge!

NEW FALCON (FSC) SWIMSUITS
The FSC Board recently decided to change the team suit after many years.  The deadline for our first FSC team suit order will be Oct 22 with the hopes of getting delivery before our November 7th swim meet.   Sample suits will be available for sizing during Stroke & Turn Clinic.  There will be a second order placed in November with a deadline to be determined.   If interested please stop by the merchandise desk and see Kim or Maureen for more details.

Team suits are optional so please do not feel the pressure to purchase.  Checks must be made payable to:  Sportstuff.

Girl - team suits     $49
Boy - team suits     $31

NEW FALCON (FSC) SWIM CAPS
The deadline for ordering FSC caps will be Thursday, October 29.  This is the only order placed this season and the team order will take approximately 3 weeks to come in.  Custom caps must be prepaid before the order is placed with checks made payable to the Falcon Swim Club.  Please see Nancy Foley at the registration table.  Once again swimmers are not required to purchase these caps; it’s just a courtesy for the team.

FSC Green Swim Caps with name – Min Order Qty - 2    Cost $13 each
FSC Green Swim Caps – plain / no name – Cost $10 each

FALCON SWIM CLUB MERCHANDISE
Our volunteers usually set up the FSC merchandise table on Monday and Wednesday nights from 6:15 to 7:15.  Maureen will also be taking orders for team jackets in the month of November.

SAFETY REMINDER TO PARENTS
For your child's safety... Please pick up your child on time and have them wait in the pool area or hallway until you arrive. Children should not wait by themselves outside.

INCLEMENT WEATHER NOTIFICATIONS

There will be no swim practice during thunder & lightning storms. Minnechaug usually forces us to close down and once we close, it will be for both swim hours.  We will do our best to notify you by email & website if a storm approaches late in the day.  Please use your best judgment if you haven’t heard.

SWIM MEET REMINDERS
NEW SWIMMERS MUST PROVIDE A COPY OF THEIR BIRTH CERTIFICATE for our file, or they will participate UNOFFICIALLY in meets.

Check in – When your swimmer arrives at a meet please check in with the coaches or assistant coaches for attendance and swim lane warm-up assignments.

Bullpen - Parents please be aware that the swimmers need to be come to the meet bullpen around 10 events prior to their event.  It is your responsibility to make sure this happens and not the volunteers.

Event Etiquette Reminder
– New swimmers need to be reminded that in individual events and for the last leg of a team relay the swimmer must remain in the pool until everyone has completed that event heat.  The announcer will tell the swimmers to clear the pool at completion.

POOL ENTRY
The security personnel for Minnechaug has notified us that we can not prop the pool entrance door open for security reasons.  We can temporarily open the door when we know they belong to our swim club but we can not leave the door ajar.  If the door is closed and you need to get in please go to the outside entrance closest to the pool and enter through those doors.  Females only can go into the girls locker rooms and then cut to the pool area.  Boys or mixed groups should pass the gym and then take a left down the long hallway which will lead you to an entrance that will bring you to the shallow end of the pool.
