I attended the University of Arkansas-Fort Smith Truck Driving School (formerly Westark College). It is a 4 week course (160 hours) and quite challenging.

This is not a CDL Mill. The instructors here will teach you to drive and to back up. They say when you go to work for a company, you will know what is needed to do the job.

The man in charge is Roy Duncan and there are three other instructors: Van, Dave and Joe. All are retired truck drivers. What they are teaching us to do, as far as backing up for example, they can do the same things without even touching the steering wheel. They can position the truck, put it in reverse, let off the clutch, take their hands totally off the steering wheel and the truck will back up perfectly. It's interesting watching these guys work.
