House Rules Home
We've had a lot of fun talking to many of our guests about House Rules for Chez Huffs-in-France.  The good news is that we've come to believe we don't need any because all our guests have been perfect.  The bad news is that everyone says to write them down anyway -- even at the risk of sounding inhospitable.

So, here goes...

Rule 1.  Guests of guests CANNOT invite guest.  (We had to throw this one in, it was just too perfect to start this off with).

Rule 2.  Car Rental.  You will need your own car.  You can book ahead for the best rates and pick up your car at Marseille Marignane airport, which is 30 minutes from our house.  We have suggestions for car rental companies and will send you directions to the house.

Rule 3.  Try to remember that while you will be on vacation when visiting -- we aren't.  We still need to get the kids to school, have meals on time and handle various appointments.  So we need you to be independent, like having your own car, planning your own trips and taking care of yourselves.

Rule 4.  Touring.  We may be able to join you for some trips (and will probably want to), but you can't count on us being tour guides for you, because of Rule #3.  We will do our best to supply you with maps and suggestions.  Let us know when you'll be leaving and returning each day -- just a note will do if we're not around.

Rule 5.  Meals.  Breakfast:  We'll be busy getting the kids off to school, so we need you and your kids to be self-sufficient.   Lunch:  Most likely, you'll be out touring, and so will be on your own.  Dinner:  We eat at 7:00.  If you would like to join us, please let us know ahead and help make it fun by joining in the planning, preparation and clean up.

Rule 6.  Phone and internet access.  General rule of thumb is, please don't use them unless you have to.  Ann is happy to help on the phone where French is needed, with airline reconfirmations, restaurant reservations, etc...

Rule 7.  Departure Drill:  Please strip your bed and make it up for our next guests.  As we have a tiny washer and NO dryer, we'd appreciate your dropping off sheets/towels with our local dry-cleaners in Puyricard when you leave.  We've even negotiated a decent rate with them (if you say you're staying at the Huff Hotel).

Well that's about it.  We are really looking forward to seeing you.  Please call or send email if you have any questions.  A bientot!
