Diary
My Life at July 2003
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
July 31, 2003(Thursday)
I installed the IP/TV 3417 to the Desca Caracas network last summer. They moved it to Desca Columbia so my boss Mario asked me to re-install IP/TV 3412 and 3425 (two different servers that functions like the 3417 server) several days ago. After some trial-and-error and some luck, I finally get it work today. I am satisfied because last time there was someone to help me and was easier (because only one server); I did it by myself this time. I barely remember some configuration from last year which was a little bit of help to me.
I communicated with the Indiana University help desk because I cannot access their website (for my MBA). Actually I can't even send them email from my work account. We came to a conclusion that the problem is within my network and I should talk to the network administrator. Being a Network engineer, I decided to further investigate the problem. After 30 minutes of troubleshooting, I discovered that there is a routing loop because one of the customers is using a public IP address for their IP network which screwed us up. I fixed it and it works now.
I went to church and had a meeting with Pastor Ricky Chan and Ricky Lam. We were talking about the Baptist Church's constitution. It is surprising to know that a church with 10 years history has not had the constitution yet. We are privileged enough to construct one. Thanks to my university training, I am being detail and points out a lot of flaw or potential trouble case to our first draft. They originally thought that the meeting will be short but I made it to be very long.
I talked to my house-mate for 20 mins about "there is nothing special to live in Canada" (they are illegal Chinese immigrant) and "know a lot of good friends at church" (they are non-Christian). I hope that I can be a light in my house.
July 30, 2003(Wednesday)
I am learning and configuring the IP/TV. It is not successful yet. I went to church for prayer meeting at night. It used to be Friday but it was just changed to Wednesday. Pastor Chan taught the book "Purpose Driven Church". I was a bit tired. I went home to proof read the Baptist Church's Constitution that Ricky Lam gave me tonight because we will have a meeting tomorrow night about it. I also read MBA book.
Pastor Semson asked me to be the pianist of the Sunday Worship in the MB Church because the only pianist went to US to study for several months. They wanted to sing some "Hymn of Life" songs. My wish is to be the Sunday Worship pianist; however, because of the busy schedule and lack of experience, I am not sure whether I should go for it or not. Probably I would do it once every two weeks or once a month.
Even with only 3 days in Venezuela, I can already feel the pressure about MBA, church and work. I want to decrease the number of hours of my sleep from 8.5 hours (7.75 hours of sleep plus 0.75 hours of afternoon nap) to 8 hour (7.25 hours of sleep plus 0.75 hours of afternoon nap). It is still more than every of my friends (they all sleep less than 7 hours) but I am getting there. But my bottom line is a total of 7.5 hours of sleep a day.
July 29, 2003(Tuesday)
I slept in today and went to work at 10. I am still adjusting myself to the jet lag. Luckily, work is not as busy as I thought. For some reason, my US co-worker Roberto has not come to work for two weeks; my boss Mario or my other co-workers do not know where he is. Is he in US (then he should apply for a vacation) or is he working on some other customer (my boss would know it if this is the case)?
I went to church for the Tuesday Outreach. People are glad to see me and vice versa. We played a game that is similar to "Life Game". People have to do something (e.g. yell "I love Baptist Church" 10 times, 20 push up, write Ps 117 five times, memorize Eph 2:8-9, meditate for 1 mins, share with 5 other people for 5 mins...) in order to earn various amount of money. And then they use the money to buy some quality (e.g. be a billionaire, won the Nobel prize, have peace, have the talent of Mozart, have 8 hrs sleep, have warm family, have love, have joy...). After the game, Pastor Chan would ask each of us to take out those things that we bought. First, assume political is really unstable and all the enjoyment (e.g. is billionaire, tour to Europe...) would lose. And then there is SARS and all the body building thing (e.g. have 8 hrs sleep, have a strong body) would lose. Finally, there is something happen to people around you and all the person-related thing (e.g. no enemy at work, have three best friends...) would lost. The only thing left are the fruit of the Spirit (love, joy, peace...). This is a reflection for all of us.
I told Pastor Chan about the concept of this outreach but he did not announce it to everyone else. Therefore, they did not do any promotion and not many people came. Only around 18 church people plus 2 new people came. I hope that they like this program. Carmen called in the middle of the program to encourage me. I am really thankful for her support. I went home to finish my unpacking and read the "Purpose Driven Church". There will be discipleship training for the church and people signed me up for that. Therefore, I need to read this book (which I have read previously, but in Chinese) to prepare for the training. Because of my MBA studies, I am more comfortable reading in English.
July 28, 2003(Monday)
I had devotion time in the morning again. I can't believe that I am so discipline! With the Bible and other things submerged into my luggage and the environment is not friendly (I am still in the airport!), I still read Bible. Of course, I did not complete the rest of my daily routine (shower and violin).
The flight from Miami to Caracas was about 3.5 hours and I slept through most of that. There is no problem with the custom and Mr. Wong picked me up at 11:30. I gave him my home key before I left because I want to make sure that someone can open my house door during that three weeks absence. He forgot to bring back and so I went to his house to pick up and had lunch with Mrs. Wong too.
I went home at 3 and unpacked some stuff. I did push up and sit up (I used to do it everyday in Venezuela, but did not do it in Vancouver) and took a shower. I went to work at 4:30.
Somehow I felt so cheerful when I arrive to work. My Spanish skill did not vanish; I am back to the "I have no idea what they are talking about" world again. I distributed the chocolate that Carmen's parents gave me. This is a very friendly way. I gave my boss some gifts too; this is a legal way to bribe them.
I icq Carmen briefly. After 20 days of face-to-face dating, we are back to online relationship again. However we are more prepared this time and I am sure that the toughest time has gone.
I stayed at work until 8:20 and went to supermarket to buy some food. I unpacked my luggage and organized my room for the next 2 hours.
July 27, 2003(Sunday)
I had nice sharing time with Carmen last night. And after 3.5 hours of sleep, I woke up, did my usual routine (shower, violin, devotion) and arrived to airport at 5am. There is problem for me to transit the flight "Vancouver - Dallas" to "Dallas - Miami" because there is only 22 mins transit time. I have no idea why I did not discover this problem when I receive the flight schedule. I need to postpone my flight "Dallas - Miami" for several hours, which means that I will miss the flight "Miami - Caracas". Moreover, the staff asked me whether I have a return ticket leaving Caracas, since I am not a Venezuela resident. I do not have that and I need to buy a very expensive one way ticket (USD $500) from Caracas to Miami (but this is fully refundable).
I had problem in airport when I first leave Vancouver in May 18, 2002. With all these trouble, I don't have the sad mood. This time is the same. I just rushed a good bye to my parents and Carmen so I don't really feel sad. Of course the sadness comes afterward.
I took 3.8 hours flight to Dallas, break for 4 hours and then 3.5 hours flight to Miami. I have to check out the luggage because the airport only retain luggage if there is less than 8 hours waiting time. I have to wait from 8pm to 7:40am. I sleep for 1.5 hours only because I have to look after the luggage. The position was not good (I was "slide sitting" so the upper part of my "pat pat" soars. I slept for about 4 hours and finished two Chinese Christian books during the flight.
July 26, 2003(Saturday)
Ate lunch with Carmen at "Kum Do restaurant". I ate breakfast at this restaurant in Jan 5, 03. I went to airport to postpone my flight at that time so she had a good memory for this restaurant.
We confirmed the wedding photo company. Then we bought engagement ring. We were engaged in Sept 25, 2001. Her ring is very luxury; thus she never wears that. We bought a cheaper one to each of us so that we can wear it everyday to remind ourselves the commitment before God.
Carmen's parents had dinner with us at home. We chatted about the wedding preparation. I packed too.
July 25, 2003(Friday)
I went with Carmen to check some other restaurant and then went to church for the pre-marital counseling. Afterward, I dropped by FCGC to visit my old friends (who are still teenagers). Too bad that I cannot join their fellowship tonight. I went home because Canaan has prayer meeting at my house. Afterward, Carmen and I talked with William and Karen about our wedding and they gave us lots of suggestions.
July 24, 2003(Thursday)
Carmen and I recorded some short voice tape for our wedding. Originally we wanted to have video clip, but we have no friends that can videotape for us. So we have to settle with voice only. Afterward, we went to Mount Seymour for hiking. The scene of this hiking trail is a lot better than the one I went to in Venezuela.
July 23, 2003(Wednesday)
I went to open a join account with Carmen; it is sweet because it symbolizes the merge of two people. We went to visit Arthur, Garfield and baby Ashley. This is the first time that I saw a baby that was born from my long time friend. My Venezuelan friends have lots of baby but that is a bit difference. The other friend that have baby is Gary Lee and Jessica. I hope to visit them too.
Carmen and I research about the wedding picture. The deal sounds pretty good. It is $2998, which is half of what it was the last place we visit. It does not include the photographer and video camera of that day, which may cost about $2600. We researched about the restaurant too.
We went to have Mongolian BBQ and had walk in English Bay. The environment is awesome too. We shared a lot about our love relationship.
July 22, 2003(Tuesday)
I went out with Carmen to check different restaurant for our wedding. In addition, we went to Tom Lee to buy some music accessory (e.g. guitar pick and violin music). We went to take the immunization shot.
At night, we had dinner with Pun family, Wu family and Carmen's uncle and auntie 2. It was the transfer big gift. We ate at restaurant and checked the place. We went back to Carmen house and shared about our future plan and they us some encouragement too. Carmen and I are thankful that we have supportive parents to back our future family. I am sure that our in-law problem would not be a huge problem. We will try to guide our future family with the Christian principle.
July 21, 2003(Monday)
I woke up at 6:05 and drove Hansel and Fiona to airport. They will go to Hawaii for their honeymoon until the coming Sunday. So I will not see them until the next time I am back from Venezuela.
After another 1 hour of sleep, I went to have dinner with Carmen's family, my family and my uncle & auntie 2. We were looking for restaurant for my wedding. Carmen went to try some wedding gown afterward; she looks great on those. I had Japanese dinner and spent quality time with her.
July 20, 2003(Sunday)
I went to pick up Hansel and Fiona (the new Mr. and Mrs. Pun) from Pan Pacific Hotel. We took some photo about that hotel. Afterward, we went to airport for the departure of Fiona's parents and ate lunch with them.
We returned the rented Benz; there was a very small dent/scratch. I am grateful that we don't have to pay a huge amount of money; $20 is enough. I upload a lot of photo to the homepage and then had a 2 hours afternoon nap.
I played 2 hours of basketball with Hansel; I have not played basketball with Hansel since my August 2002 trip to Vancouver. I would really regret if this does not happen. My skill was quite bad in the beginning but I improved after about 30 mins play time.
Carmen and I had dinner at home with the two Pun couples. This is the best that I can do for parent's 30th yr anniversary. I returned some stuff for the wedding to Fiona's godmother at night.
July 19, 2003(Saturday)
Fiona called Hansel's cell at 4:40am. I am not in a good sleeping mood and after this phone call I can hardly fall asleep. I officially woke up at 6:05 and did my morning routine. The "brothers" arrived by 8:45. However the "sisters" are not ready yet so we went to McDonald to kill sometimes. Hansel was a bit impatient because he wanted to be played.
We arrived to pick up the bride at 10:20. We played three games, one of those asked us to spin ourselves and then run; I cheated this one. The second one asked us to put on some girls clothes and then take it out. The last one asked us to count the dots on our bodies. Finally, Hansel cannot use his feet or hand to go to find Fiona so I carried him.
After the Tea ceremony, the wedding ceremony began. I used violin and flute to play the prelude; I improvised; it turns out ok. I also played violin for the "mother lights candle"; my violin was a bit out of tune and I am really disappointed at my performance. I played flute for the bridesmaid entrance too. During Hansel proclaimed his vow, he cried big time. It was more than 13 years that I know Hansel's last cry. In fact, I cried too; I am so glad to witness the growth of Hansel. At the very end, Hansel and Fiona said speech to appreciate their family members. I cannot control and cried again. He said that it is neither dad nor mom that loves him the most, it is I. He also said that I am a "strange man" and taught him how to "set goals". Many people said that this is one of the most moving wedding ceremonies they have attended, probably because we cried a lot. We took lots of photos afterward and left church at 4. There were about 250 people attended the wedding ceremony today.
Hansel, Fiona, bridesmaid Angus, sister Tze and I went to stylist for the hair. I bought some snack for them. We arrived Vancouver Convention Center at 5:30; in order to benefit from the cheap parking flat rate, I slept in the car for 20 mins and then park it at 6.
I talked to many friends and relatives today. Mainly I shared about my experience in Venezuela; my future plan and my marriage plan. I have to repeat the same stuff to many people. The banquet started at 7. I gave a toast speech for 7 mins, probably 1.5 mins longer than my practice time. However, it turned out well. We played some game too. Carmen^2 are the MC and they did a pretty good job; Simon was faithful in his GM job too. There were dancing opportunity available at 10 but very few of us dance. I tried to dance with Carmen but we forgot our steps. I stayed behind to help the clean up afterward and arrived home with Carmen at 1. I have to drive her home too.
Hansel and Fiona is tense and also very concern about the run down of the night. I can see that they are tight and not really able to enjoy their wedding. They wanted to make sure that everything went well; the wedding went really good and is the best wedding I have ever been to. I am really proud of them. It is also very weird to treat Fiona as my sister now. However I am sure I will get used to it soon. Also I appreciate Carmen helped a lot with the wedding today too.
July 18, 2003(Friday)
I presented my toast speech to Carmen^2; this is one of the most important speech in my life and I hope that I will do great tomorrow. I went to buy the car insurance and then went to pick up the Benz with Hansel. I closely examine whether there is any scratch for the car. There is a lot of cute little feature inside the car; it took me a long time to figure out how to open the cover for fill in the gasoline; I thought that, with this cool car, there must be some trick. However, after 15 mins of investigation, it turned out that there is no lock for open the gasoline cover. I went home at 6 and investigating the car with Hansel for 20 mins.
I went to Vancouver Convention Center for 1.5 hours to help Hansel for the set up; the parking fee is expensive! $4/hr. It is free in most of the places in Venezuela.
I wanted to go to FCGC at night but my parents organized a dinner with many relatives. Usually I turned down but I accepted the invitation this time because I am an adult now and should learn how to socialize with the relatives. Most of them will probably come again next year for my wedding too. Therefore, this is one of the very seldom Fridays that I skipped church. I helped Hansel with some paperwork and updated my homepage at night.
July 17, 2003(Thursday)
I picked up the carpet for the wedding. And then I went to Fraserland Church from 2:25 - 10:20 for the preparation and decoration. We emptied a lot of stuff from home to church. Carmen and I went to buy dinner for the helpers. We bought 30 people's food but turned out only 10 people ate; so there is a lot of food to bring home. If I am in Venezuela, I will take all these home and eat for the next several weeks! The wedding rehearsal was smooth and everything was great.
July 16, 2003(Wednesday)
I helped Hansel to bring some big flowers for wedding to home. Afterward, I watched "Touch" comic movie again. I slept for a while and then went to have haircut with Carmen. I went to have dinner with Fiona's relative and then practiced music at night. Hansel's wedding preparation is getting more intense and excited.
July 15, 2003(Tuesday)
I did some housework today. I vacuum and washed two cars. Afterward, I went to Carmen's office to help her pick up some stuff and then went to Carmen's house for movie. I watched "Touch" comic movie at midnight. This was one of my favorite comics, but this series "The University version" is quite disappointing.
July 14, 2003(Monday)
I ate lunch with parents at "Hugo" HK-western style restaurant. Their steak is pretty good, at least better than the ones I tried in Venezuela. I ran 54 mins to my old house; my cousin Andy visited me afterward. He brought his cool Sony Palm pilot. It can act like a video-recorder, and even a TV remote controller. If I have that, I would not be bored in my company meeting. However, it costs Cdn $1000, which is a bit too expensive.
I went out to drink thing with William; we talked about MBA, church, politics; it is a man-to-man talk. During dinnertime, all of us are here: parents, Carmen, Hansel and Fiona. We listened to the tape that we recorded 20 years ago. It is really sweet to listen to our childhood; Carmen joked with me about this too.
July 13, 2003(Sunday)
I went to Willingdon Church with Carmen. I never fall asleep in Venezuela Baptist Church for the last several months but for some reason I cannot resist today. Is it because the worship is too good so that I fall asleep? That is weird. I went with Carmen for lunch and then buy gifts for Hansel and Fiona's wedding.
The Bachelor Party started at 5pm. There is a lot of alcohol in this party. I am a designated driver so I don't have to drink. However, I am amazed to see Hansel and his school friend drink. Hansel's face and body is quite red because of the alcohol. The "truth dare or beer" game was fun too, but should change the last part (to hot chocolate?) for my Bachelor Party.
We joined the girls at 8:20 at Fiona's house. Hansel puked shortly after arriving there. We played some know-each-other game and drew on Hansel's face whenever he answered questions wrong. We were being unfair because we asked questions that he can never guess (e.g. the average length of leg hair) because we just want to draw on his face. Hansel behaved very open and welcomed (request!) people to draw on his face. We did not draw on Fiona's face because Hansel insisted not to (i.e. protecting her). Fiona said that we should draw something on her face so that both of them bare the punishment. We gave her a paper big ear instead. At 11pm, we went to Shopper Drug Mart to buy thing. It is funny to see Hansel and Fiona go there with their weird look. Hansel did not feel any embarrassment; rather, he actively talked to the customer. The security came and warned us not to disturb other people.
I shared with Carmen for 2.5 hours afterward. There is a lot of thing to clear out for this long distance relationship. Besides helping Hansel's wedding, my main objective for this trip is to share with Carmen so that we know what each other is expecting.
July 12, 2003(Saturday)
I went to help Carmen for her SUCCESS health open house today from 9 to 4. The event was from 10-2. I was helping in her center for the "spin wheel". I do not like those old people who line up without knowing what is going on, just fear that they may lose something. Probably this is the character of Chinese. I hate this. My parents and her parents came as well; they introduced me some people from SUCCESS too. Carmen's hosting of the program is more or less same as me responsible for the church function. She is very responsible and the program went really smooth. I am proud of her; she is very nice and also very gifted in this.
Carmen went to my house and we talked with Hansel and Fiona about their program (mainly Carmen and Fiona did the talking). Afterward, Carmen and I went to watch "Terminator 3" movie. Last time when I watched "Terminator 2" in 1992, I had appendix surgery afterward. Many things have changed since then. Let see what is waiting for me.
July 11, 2003(Friday)
I went to take some material for Carmen in the morning for her workshop tomorrow. And then I went to her office and helped her with some administrative tedious work. It took me about 3 hours and have not really finished; I ate lunch with her too.
For some reason, I am really tired. I had only 7 hours of sleep last night and I had 1.3 hours of afternoon nap. I jog to Knight Street Alliance Church afterward for 53 mins. I went to Canaan fellowship afterward for the Bible Study; instead of talking a lot, I listened to William led and shared once in a while (but to the point). We went to have snack at night and be at home at 12:10.
July 10, 2003(Thursday)
Uncle #1, Auntie #1, Timothy, his wife Serene and his 7-month-old daughter (don't know how to spell her name. It sounds like "Adelene") went to visit us. We went to drink tea afterward too. I am the "'bill' elder uncle" of that young girl; it is my first time to be called the "elder" uncle and I feel myself so old.
I helped parents to prepare some food and then there were about 20 people came to our house for Hansel's wedding appreciation dinner. I do not know about half of these people; he really has his own globe of friends. We practiced music for a while; Carmen was here too after work.
July 9, 2003(Wednesday)
It is so good to be at home. I felt that I am so blessed. It reminds me about my Chinese friends in Venezuela. They left China and their family for several years and have not had a chance to go back. I felt that life is so unfair and I am so blessed.
I went for a run today; practice piano and went to Christian bookstore to buy some goods for Venezuela church. I went with Hansel and Fiona to North Vancouver to practice music for their wedding. And I visited Carmen's work place and dinner with her; we chatted a lot (at least, I did a lot of talking) about each other.
July 8, 2003(Tuesday)
I flied back to Vancouver today. Originally I am scheduled to go back in Jul 12. However my passport visa will expire July 10. Therefore I talked to my boss about this. In April 10, I went to Curacao. After my boss learnt that I will go back to Vancouver July 12, he said that he would not mind me to go back earlier. They will pay for my USD$100 change-flight-penalty and will not discount my extra four days vacation too.
I took a flight for 2.5 hours to Miami. The airport was pretty nice. And then I took another one to Dallas for 2.2 hours. I have to wait in Dallas for 6 hours so I walked around and read magazines. Finally I took another flight back to Vancouver. I spent most of the time during the flights to read "The Goals" MBA novel book. It was a good book; I have very seldom read over 300 pages a day, previously all are Chinese novels.
Hansel and Fiona picked me up from the airport. It was a surprise visit and I did not tell my parents nor Carmen about that. First we went to Carmen's house to surprise her. Fiona told her that she has something to give her which is left in the car. When Carmen was approaching, I jumped out and surprised her. I gave her a hug and a kiss. Afterward, we went back to my house. I hid in the crawlspace; Hansel asked my parents to check the crawlspace because there is some water leakage (which is not true). My dad saw me and he was surprised without saying a word. Then my mom came down and was surprised too and almost yelled out.
I had a good time to surprise them; thanks to Hansel and Fiona, the plan went smooth. I phoned Carmen and also unpacked the stuff afterward. It is so good to be home, a place where I know the language, have the family and also have the support. (Not that I don't enjoy staying in Venezuela, just that it is "home sweet home")
July 7, 2003(Monday)
Today is a quiet day; there is not much work. My co-worker Wilmer and my boss Mario thanked me for last Saturday Banesco's network. I did not do anything except supported the local IT staff to turn off some network configuration which fixed the problem temporarily. I am not sure what is so great about this. Either they are polite enough to thank me (for disturbing the weekend) or they are not aware that the problem is permanently fixed yet.
I went to Che So house for dinner; I have not been to her house for quite a while. We shared a lot about the church situation.
July 6, 2003(Sunday)
I went to Baptist Church at 8:30 for the music practice and then played guitar during the Sunday worship. There are not much people here because the Spanish youth went to Tu Cacas to swim. I went there June 22-24, 2002. They invited me to go this time but I have to play guitar at church so I did not go. There were not much people in the Chinese Youth Sunday school either. Afterward, I ate lunch with Paco, Luisa and Ah Men.
I went to MB Church for Sunday Service. I did not go home to rest in the middle because I know that this will be the last time before I go back to Canada. During their Sunday School, I played around with YiSon. Chinese Youth Fellowship afterward. And then from 8-9:30, we had music practice; I taught them the same songs that I taught Baptist Church youth several months ago.
Today is a long church day but I enjoy that. I felt less stress and more enjoyment, probably because I know that I will be able to recharge myself very shortly.
July 5, 2003(Saturday)
I taught YanTing about Chemistry in the morning. And then I went to run for 47 mins. Afterward, I got a call from my boss Mario. The network of a customer Banesco was down. I need to go there to help fixing it. At first, I am not too happy about this arrangement because of this "out of the blue" job. However, as I reflect, I feel more ok. It is because, out of the last year I was in Venezuela, this is the first time. Also, there is no major church commitment I have at night (e.g. 10th yr anniversary, Loh farewell or even choir practice). This is one of the few Saturday night I am free. I can have some experience in working over time.
I went with two of my co-worker to Banesco. There are already 5 Banesco IT people there. They are quite competent and there is nothing much I can do. I was standing around, checking the configuration file for a while. They discussed the network in Spanish and I felt myself so useless. I have a feeling that even if I understand what they are talking, it may takes my technical part of my brain to warm up.
They solved the problem temporarily; the service has been out for two hours and they do not want to touch it until later tonight. Therefore, we can leave at 7pm, 2.5 hours after the phone call. Originally there is music practice at Baptist Church for tomorrow's singspiration from 5 to 7 and then music theory lesson by Mrs. Chan afterward. I decided not to go but went back to my office to check email and update diary instead.
July 4, 2003(Friday)
I worked on the Banco del Caribe traffic report for several hours. I also icq Carmen about an hour regarding our view about her career. It is hard on her because she (and I) does not know where we will be after our marriage. Hope that there are some good jobs that God has prepared for us. I have no idea where there will job in the future so we must pray more and learn to trust in God about our future.
July 3, 2003(Thursday)
I went to Banco del Caribe to finish off with the traffic analysis. Originally the last capturing can finish at 1230pm. However, the door of that floor is locked because this is the only places, out of the 18 floors I have been, that is leased to another bank, Scotia Bank. It was lunch time and we need to wait for the receptionist to back from lunch. I was working on the report in the mean time, until 2:40pm. The file transfer from the several computers to my laptop was successful.
I went home for a break and then went to work at 5:30. I worked on the report until 9:30pm. I may work till that late when I study my MBA in the future.
July 2, 2003(Wednesday)
I went to Banco del Caribe for more traffic analysis. The capturing is smoother and more efficient than I think. I went to work in the afternoon and then went to Dr. Chu house for dinner. Semson appreciated me for my defense to him and the MB church from Mrs. Lui in Apr 26. We also had the MB Youth fellowship meeting. I can see that the committee are really dedicated and trying hard to improve the fellowship. I don't have to worry too much in this church. On the other hand, in the Baptist Church, I am more alone, feel that Paco is the only co-worker.
July 1, 2003(Tuesday)
I went to Banco del Caribe in the morning and planned to spend the whole day working here. However, in lunch time, my boss Mario called and wanted me to go to another customer. So I have to be back at the office and go to the other customer Fondo Comun. I was supposed to install a PIX firewall; the manager was busy at that time so I did not do anything. It is a waste of time.
I went to church at night. I talked to Pastor Ricky Chan about the July 29 Outreach program. I need to prepare it in advanced because I have only 2 days to prepare after my Vancouver visit. Yanting was there and I tutored her some Chemistry. Megan was there and sat in for my study session too. It is exam time and I am glad that I can help out. I helped out a lot of people when I was in Vancouver and I can use my "teaching gift" to help others again.
