INTERMEDIATE COMMUNICATION SKILLS 2

I. SYNOPSIS


Intermediate Communication Skills 2 emphasizes more on communication skills by which trainees are able to express their ideas and through in some rhetorical patterns of formal spoken English in oral presentations. Reading and Writing practices are given to develop the techniques in understanding written texts and to write ideas, especially those using cause-effect development. Grammatical structures and vocabulary development are still maintained at this level to further improve their language proficiency.

II. OBJECTIVES


By the end of the course, participants will be able to communicate with other people in the work place and in everyday situations, in both written and spoken English at an upper intermediate level, and score 440 in TOEFL.

III. COURSE OUTLINE


GRAMMAR: Gerunds and Infinitives, adjectives Clause, Noun clause. LISTENING: Listening Comprehension from "Intermediate Listening Comprehension". SPEAKING: Article Reporting, Oral Presentation. VOCABULARY AND READING: Article from Current Newspapers and Magazines, Exercise from "Word Power 3000". WRITING: Journal Writing, Summary Writing, Cause-Effect Development.

IV. COURSE REQUIREMENTS


Pass Placement Test for Intermediate Communication Skills 2 or pass Intermediate Communication Skills 1.

V. DURATION


Sixty hours. The course meets three times a week for 12 weeks. Each session lasts one and a half hours.
