Carberry's
Most of the Boston metropolitan area's great bakeries require driving to the western suburbs. Carberry's Central Square and Davis Square locations, though hard to park at, are close to the T. The new Davis Square location is where the original Steve's ice cream used to be, beyond Picante and Domino's on Elm Street. Though farther from the T, Carberry's beats the pants off Au Bon McPain and rivals Pannini as Somerville's best bakery. The new Carberry's has somewhat more parking and indoor space. Try it out for lunch, breakfast or an aprés-Somerville Theater latté without the deafening, grunge atmosphere of the Someday Cafe (which is attractive in its own way).(9/98)
