Blue Room
This long-time favorite of mine has slipped a bit in consistency, but the exciting appetizer, cozy, warm atmosphere and relatively short waits still make it my favorite restaurant in the vicinity of the Kendall Theatre and Inman Square. Head chef Steve Johnson won Best of Boston in 97 and 98 for Best Chef and earned it. Arrive early on weekends, and you'll have little problem getting a seat. If you sit at the counter, the cooks give you samples. Wait staff are attuned to Kendall Theater scheduling requirements. (10/01) ** $$$
