Washington, DC - 21 April 1998
Socialite and tennis enthusiast Anthony Aoude woke up this morning with his thoughts toward London and Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth. Today, Her Majesty will celebrate her 72nd birthday, quietly with family and friends and continue her official duties. Anthony Aoude will do much the same. Today, Anthony celebrates his 25th birthday.
"I have no special plans, much like Her Majesty, though I did send her a birthday greeting this morning. Its a little tradition of mine. I will work today and attend a meeting of the tennis organization of which I am a member."
Having caught up with Anthony on his daily commute, our reporters queried Anthony on his plans for the day. He responded that though nothing special is planned for today, projects are underway to mark this entire year as a celebration.
"I got the idea from Walt Disney World. They took a year to celebrate their 25th anniversary, why shouldn't I?"
Already in the works, a trip to Amsterdam in August looks to be the highlight of the year-long celebrations. Other trips include Boston, Provincetown, New York City and perhaps Walt Disney World and Ft Lauderdale.
"My family is from Boston, so I would be remiss in not spending some time up there to mark this year. New York has become a tradition of sorts. I spent my 15th and my 24th birthdays there and a marvelous time. I had my 16th in Paris and my 17th in Walt Disney World, so if I can get back to some of these places, it will be nice to remember. Many people have huge parties to celebrate; I love to travel! "
Having recently moved from Bradley Manor in Bethesda, Maryland, Anthony has now set-up residence at Dominion Gate in the Commonwealth of Virginia. This is the second move for Anthony in the past six months, having left Harvard House in the District in September 1997. When asked to comment on the moves, Anthony responded quite diplomatically.
"I have made unfortunate judgments in selecting roommates in the past. I have drawn from each experience some insight into human behaviour that I hope helps me to become a better person. Though the experiences were less than favourbale and some conditions and actions were unwarranted and petty, I hold no grudge or vendetta, as some have suggested I should. My wishes are that these people will someday learn from the experiences as well. You will forgive me if I don't expand upon my current living situation, only to say that my roommate is a much different person and I believe him to have a very good head placed squarely on his shoulders. To respond to queries as to why I don't live alone, limited economies would be my answer."
