Unity Church Choir Retreat

Company: Leslie Gauna (conductor), Dianna Stiles, Mary Ann Pendino, Richard Stiles, Esteban Gago, Dustin Parks and Ramiro Salas.

Short forms

A lady said that she was at a fitness place and she knew she would not last the whole class in the bicycle. After a while she tried to get down and she couldn’t because she was hurting so bad. Leslie decided to do a tableau. Ramiro went to music and Mary Ann walk back because she was unsure what to do. Laugh was so strong that we couldn’t really finish.

Stories

1. A miracle happened when John took the wrong cell phone. He was driving away from the teller’s house when it rung, and he realized he had her cell phone and came back, just in time to help the teller’s friend, who had collapsed and needed help. Esteban was the cell phone.

2. The lady from the tableau told a story about a telephone conversation with her friend. The friend had a problem with a boyfriend who would not give her some money she needed, and she found out he did had money in the bank. Leslie decided to do a chorus because the whole story was a phone conversation.

3. A lady was in a choir rehearsal (in the same room we had the performance) and her one year old went up the stairs and was about to fall from the balcony. She calmly run up and got her. The essence seemed to be the fact that she avoided going into the “what if” mode. Leslie decided to do a chorus.

Walking fluids. We asked for the written moment after the second story, and Dustin conducted. We used some music while they wrote. In “Conscious evolution of the planet”, we just followed Richard and started jumping. Mary Ann looked surprised. Another on driving for hours. After two or three the audience started to laugh and we got a nice rhythm. We must remember to look up.

4. Puppets. A story about a 6 year old child with bipolar disorder. The kid would make a mess and the next day he would apologize and say it is god’s fault that he is so bad. The teller told him that he is not bad. She also told him he is special, which reminded her that she is special too. She was the person who collapsed on the first story.

5. It was the teller’s husband birthday and he decided that he rather cut a tree with a chainsaw than having cake. He was cutting the tree’s limb and it fall and almost hurt people there. Nothing bad happened. Dustin was teller with chainsaw effects included. Esteban, Richard and Ramiro were dog, cake, and tree. Lots of laughter.

6. A lady was locked out of her house and she went to her neighbor (whom she barely knew) and asked for a book and beer to spend the day in her yard. At night her husband came back and she blamed him for the whole problem. Dianna was the door that would not open. We had some confusion about who played the role of the neighbor but there was a lot of laughter.

Pairs

- The only teenager in the audience told a pair about being bullied. On one hand, she wanted to get back at them, on the other, she did not want to get in trouble.

Although we did not asked for it, they decided to collect a love offering. They were very generous.
