NOTES AND/OR SIGNIFICANT EVENTS:

1: Very cold morning low 4F. A clear and cold day with little wind.

HEAVY SNOW
3: Snow began after midnight and was heavy at times overnight and through the morning.
Snow tapered off during the early afternoon hours. 10.0" fell making it the
heaviest in a single day so far this season. Water equivalent 0.96". The snow
depth on the ground reached 23 inches, also the highest of the season.
*Season total is now 53.3 inches, on pace to be the snowiest season on record*

HEAVY RAIN & ICE STORM
5: Heavy snow began about 5pm and 1/2" fell in 1/2 hour before quickly changing to
freezing rain with a bit of sleet mixed in. Rain heavy at times during the evening.
About 0.8" of solid ice before plain rain mixed in about 11pm. Total solid precip
about 1.3" and precip estimated at about 1.00" by midnight.
6: Rain and freezing rain continued overnight heavy at times about another 0.75" liquid
precip by 7am and another 0.2" solid ice making about 1.5" of snow/ice from this
system. Lighter rains throughout the day and evening ended by 10:30pm. Total event
precip measured exactly 2.00" so another 1.00" fell today. A thick, solid glaze
coated everything making merely stepping outside very treacherous. Minor flooding
also occurred from the heavy rains on top of snow/ice that clogged storm drains.
7: Some light snow & freezing rain this morning and some snow showers after dusk but
   only a trace
8: Windy with WNW winds 20+ mph, mostly clear skies
15: A chilly day with partly to mostly sunny skies high 30F. Clear and cold this

trace of snow. Afternoon wind gusts 25-30 mph. More snow showers this evening.
24: Light AM snow 0.5" fell, then changed to light rain during early PM and ended total
    .08" precip fell.
28: Clear & cold overnight then mild and mostly sunny with a high of 56 F.

SUMMARY:

Winter pounded the area in early February with cold temperatures and two major winter
storms within a 4-day period. These storms accounted for virtually all of the month's
precipitation. After the 6th it was extremely dry with a moderating temperature trend.
