Horizon Shelties began as a dream from childhood of owning a "Lassie" dog.  It took me until I graduated from college in 1981 to get my  first little "Lassie" dog, a sheltie! This first little girl was 13 inches, with no coat and had prick ears, but I was SMITTEN! We took up obedience and  did a little competing when she at avery young age, died after being hit by a car. I then began the search for my first show quality sheltie and ended up with Chessa. She was never able to carry a litter but we did compete in obedience and were inseparable.  I did end with a bitch that was able to whelp a nice healthy litter and from that litter came my first home-bred champion,
CH Desert Acres Destiny O'Shalet who was owned and shown by my dear friend Nancy Hoenshell.  Horizon started out as Desert Acres but due to changes in my life, I changed over to Horizon to remind me I was "looking to a brighter horizon." There have 2 more homebred champions since and I look forward to many more!  Horizon is a small hobby kennel, keeping a limited number of dogs. A full time job and family obligations make time precious and I want my time with each sheltie to be meaningful.  I only breed a few litters a year, always looking for that special one I feel embodies the sheltie standard to the fullest.  Puppies are occasionally available to approved homes.  I am a member of the Mid Arizona Shetland Sheepdog Club and the Phoenix Flyers Agility Club. Life with shelties is an amazing adventure. Always look for God's blessing in the future- "Look to a brighter Horizon!"  Thanks for visiting Horizon Shelties' Home on the web!
