Wildlife
My Parents came out to visit Colorado for the first time in 1998 and Mom went home with some great pictures of the wildlife. So I thought I would post some of those here for anyone not familiar with western fauna. Click on any of they pictures for a closer view.
Mom got this great picture of a moose in Rocky Mountain National Park.
This is an Elk, herds of elk can be seen in many areas of Colorado.
This is a Robber Jay or a Grey Jay. In the high country they will often follow you for miles begging for handouts.
This is a Pika. It's a small rodent found above timberline.
This is a picture of a Marmot begging from me on Long's Peak. Bobbie took this picture when we hiked Longs in 98.
This is a rabbit. He has long ears and a puffy tail.
This is a Prairie Dog. It's considered a pest to most ranchers in the west, but they're still very cute.
Mom got this great picture of a Buffalo in Custer National Park in South Dakota.
