I maybe wrong, but I believe that the selection of the above Burnley Grammar School Old Boys First XI to play Old Rivingtonians was a proud moment for Chairman George Haythornthwaite.  The reason being that all eleven players featured above were actually Old Boys of the school which was an unusual occurence in the last 25 years.  Not only that but nine of the above also played at some stage for the Pike Hill Bombers in the Burnley Sunday League.

Back Row (L to R);  Ian Rawstron (Team Manager), Paul Whitehead, Ben Higson, Bosh Hargreaves, Steve Whitaker, Mick Binns, David Binns.
Front Row (L to R) John Phillips, Leigh Catlow, Simon Airey, Steve Pickup, Mick Annice.

For the record the match ended in a 1-1 draw with Mick Binns header equlaising for the Old Boys in a match played at the Prairie in August 1984.

A scorching September day in 1987 greeted the above Old Boys 2nd XI who faced Rochdale St Clements at Higher Towneley.  The result a 3-1 win for the home team.

Back row (L to R) Warrick Ingham, Steve Pickup, John Skelly, Steve Kay, Gary Dixon, Ben Higson, Paul Tomlinson, Bernard Sheridan (Team Manager).
Front Row (L to R) David Binns, Steve Doney, Steve Dodgson, Nick Howarth, Craig Parkinson.

Once again there are a number of Bombers representatives in the side -"nine  to my reckoning!"

Same day as above (although Warrick Ingham had a double substitute role if I remember!);
Old Boys Third XI - Back Row (L to R) Warrick Ingham, Gary Fletcher, Tony Andrews, Ian Sheridan, Nigel Brown, Ray Walne, Mark Andrews.
Front Row (L to R) John Phillips, Steve Emmett, Ted Whittle, Tony Ennis, Ged Ennis.
