~*~AbBy~*~

Abby Davies aka Helen Noble

How did you get the part of Abby? Originally I went for the role of Jess - a completely different kind of character to Abby! That was my first audition here. I think you'll find that quite a few HOLLYOAKS actors will have been for auditions for other things. I got down to the last few for that, then my agent rang and said I hadn't got the part but they'd keep me in mind for something in the future. I didn't think they would. Then I got called back about six months later for Abby. I had one audition when it was just me and a few girls, then they called me back again and there was me and loads of girls! I thought I'd got a chance when I got recalled, but then I saw all these other girls and thought, no, I'm gonna be coming back again. Then I got it after that, so that was it.

What did you know about your character before you joined the show? I was told that Abby had a lot of attitude, but that she was friends with Zara and had a bit of likeness with her. At first she wanted to be a bit like Zara; Zara was a goth, so Abby was a sort of punky goth as well. It was all so she could be like Zara. She was a bit cocky and full of attitude because she was trying to impress Zara as well. Steph was in by that point, which was really strange because me and Carley knew each other from school. I got the part about six months after her but we didn't have any scenes together for ages, it was all scenes with Zara and Abby. Then finally she came into set-up, and we formed a kind of gang!

How do you think Abby's changed over time? She's a lot nicer now. I think she can still be a bit of pain now and again, she's definitely got that in her, but she's changed quite a lot. She's got a very nice side to her, quite a mature side, even though that doesn't always come across. She's also a bit of a drama queen, and is very romantic and all loved-up when she's round Lee. She lives in a bit of a dream world really, but as her image has changed she's changed as well. She's not as abrupt as maybe she first was.

How would you describe Abby's relationship with Lee? Very rocky! It's been fun to play, though you get to the point where you think, are we supposed to be together now or not?! It's comedy really, the writers like to play on the comedy and the fact we're always splitting up and then getting back together and becoming engaged! I love it, and Alex [Carter] plays Lee brilliantly. We work well together, because Abby's serious about their relationship and how it's going to be so perfect, whereas he's just taking it as it comes. I think the two characters together are great.
