Welcome to Holly Harbor, our dream come true. We are located on Ferry Creek, just a stone's throw from the southern bank of the Piankatank River in Gloucester County, Virginia. Seven miles down the river lies the Chesapeake Bay and the waters of the world.
Having lived and worked in the rush and crush of Northern Virginia for many years, Gloucester first appeared to us as an ideal weekend retreat. The purchase of a waterfront plot of land in 1987, traveling around the area, and meeting the people, convinced us that this was where we wanted to live out our retirement years. Thus, rather than building a vacation cottage we had a "Carolina low country" home built in 1992. For two and one-half years we traveled to Gloucester every weekend to enjoy the country life. After Jackie's retirement from the Fairfax County School System and Charles' retirement from the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, we moved in permanently in December of 1994.
We invite you to peruse our web site and see for yourself why we still think we made the right decision and feel so blessed to be living in the land once trod by Captain John Smith, Chief Powhatan, and Princess Pocahontas.
