When my daughter was a toddler, I began baking a fresh apple cake from a recipe that my mother, Patricia A. Lofft (Heavilin), gave me. She called it Jewish Apple Cake and I have been baking it for family and friends for well over fifteen years as a "friendship cake". During that period of time, I continually "tweaked" the original recipe and developed what became known locally as Holly's Apple Cake.

Over the years, I have given the recipe to practically everyone I know. However, the majority were disappointed that their cake(s) did not taste exactly like mine and opted to have them custom baked by me. Subsequently, with words of encouragement and gentle prodding from those folks, as well as the support of my family, I decided to "go public" by establishing Holly Applecake in mid-Spring 1999.

As Holly Applecake continues to mature, I am developing new recipes or improving upon existing recipes for seasonal cakes that have been test marketed on my regular customers. Those special seasonal cakes are now part of my expanded (although limited) line of custom baked products.
