Missouri Valley Guiding Service
Hi.  My name is Chris Hoffman.  I sure hope that you enjoyed the Missouri Valley Guiding Service page that I designed for you.  I live in Williston, ND with my lovely  bride, Melissa.  I am farming full time in the Buford-Trenton riverbottoms.  My dad & I raise sugarbeets, durum, corn, barley, peas, alfalfa, oats, cattle, & elk.

Growing up on our farm in western North Dakota, agriculture has always been a very important part of my life.  I am happy to be living out in this part of the country.  I get to see wild pheasants and whitetail deer almost every day......all while on the job.  Our farm is surrounded by all of the woods and brush that we hunt, so we can make note of where we see the game animals daily.
My dad first took me hunting when I was just a little fella...so young that I can not recall the first time.  I do remember my first rooster, though.  Dad and I were hunting a strip of cattails behind the cattle corrals in late October one morning.  I was about 10 years old.  With the sun glistening off of the frosted cattails, a brilliant rooster exploded in front of our cocker spaniel named Bo.  With a sulfur yellow-gleam in his eye, the bird seemed to be daring me to shoot.  I pulled up my grandpa's bolt-action .410 and drew a bead.  The .410 popped through the rising, wispy fog, and to my surprise, he folded and fell  next to a Russian olive tree.
This is my dad & I when I was a little guy.
Near our farm, the Missouri River is about 500 yards wide.  There is aout one half mile to a mile of cover created by the meandering flood plain between the river and the fields.  Animals frequently seen in the area include:  whitetail deer, ringneck pheasants, wild turkeys, cottontail rabbits, coyotes, red fox, porcupines, beavers, raccoons, squirrels, gophers, muskrats, red-tailed hawks, bald eagles, crows, mourning doves, Canada geese, wood ducks, mallards, walleye, sauger, catfish, and paddlefish.  We occasionally spot mule deer, pronghorn antelope, sharptail grouse, Hungarian partridge, badger, otter, moose, bobcat, sandhill crane, whooping crane, trumpeter swan, and probably a few more odd animals.

This is the "monster" 4 lb rainbow trout I caught with our guide Dale.  The fishing was awesome on the Big Horn River near Ft. Smith, Montana.  March 13, 1999.  74 degrees out!!!
