Welcome to my page dedicated to the life and writings of James Herriot

First, let me tell you a little about how this page came to be. My name is Heather Mazzaccaro and I'm a vet student studying at Tufts University School of Veterinary Medicine in Boston, MA. When I was in fourth grade my mother handed me a well worn paperback and told me that I should enjoy this one, it had animals in it. Being the animal lover that I am, I dove into it and once I started, there was no stopping me. I had the book read in no time. The title of the book was All Creatures Great and Small by James Herriot. That Christmas I received the whole boxed set of James Herriot's works and diligently read through those as well. It was during this time that I made up my mind to pursue a veterinary career.

It was spring break of my freshman year at college when my mother handed me a newspaper clipping. There in my hands I stood looking at the obituary of Alfred Wight otherwise known as the beloved James Herriot. I was crushed and made up my mind to dedicate a Web page to him as soon as I got back to school. So I did some research in the local library and started working on the page the moment I got back to school. When I had finished, I publicized it on a few search engines and sat back for a while.

To my surprise, what started out as a small page, a small tribute to a great man, got a lot of attention in a short span of time. A received more information from other fans and the page grew. Christopher Timothy wrote me an email about the page. The tribute wall grew out of control. Now, I have been forced to move this page out of my school account because it was too popular; it was responsible for too much traffic at the school's Web site. Alas, the page is still up and running with improvements on the way. So far it has won two awards, perhaps there will be more.
