V.C. Andrews was born in 1924 in Portsmouth, Virginia. She was one of three children.

After her father's death in the late 1960's, her family moved to Manchester, Missouri. It was then that she began to devote all of her time to writing, which produced her first novel, "The Godds Of The Green Mountain.

Seven years later she sold Flowers In The Attic. V.C. went on to write several more books to that series including: Garden of Shadows, Petals on the Wind, If there be Thorns and Seeds of Yesterday. She continued her storywriting with The Casteel Series, and in the middle of them she became ill. She worked on writing notes for her additional novels which a carefully selected author Andrew Neiderman took over. V.C. went to live with her mother in Virginia Beach, Virginia.
