Horses to follow for 2003-2004
This is the hottest race of last season and from this race, we're going to
see a number of winners emerge.
- Dave's Best - Same sire as Olympic Express and has many
similarities, is light weight and runs in the same manner. A
completely barn storming run to win this race when clearly out of it.
Still yet to mature but he will get there and improve loads after seeing his
previous runs. Definitely a horse suited to 1600m and may even get up
to 2000m. One problem with him is he is quite fragile will need kids
gloves.
- Super Charge - A horse with incredible confirmation but
unfortunately with questionable breeding. He really fits the bill of a
class 1 horse on looks. Definitely a wet tracker, but unproven on good
going... His run in the Juvenile Sprint was a bit unusual when off the
bridle around the bend and only picking up at the very last minute.
Hopefully, not a nutcase.
- Four Aces - Having won his first couple of starts in griffin year
so convincingly is was a surprise to see him falter in open company.
Though he did finally show his worth in this race. He's no superstar
and another with superstar breeding - I would compare him to Classic
Master. A horse who can get to around the Class 2/1 level but never
really threaten.
- Flying Kenny - A horse with a high knee action which will suit for
wet going. Not a bad type, progressive and tries hard. Probably
Class 2. Maybe Class 1 in the wet.
- Always Welcome - A horse by the sire Hennessy in other words he
wont train on. Might get a win in the beginning of the season but I
wouldn't say one to follow. Class 3-4.
- The World of Love - A small horse who ran a lot during his griffin
season. Suggesting that he might not improve that much more this
season. Breeding suggests up to 1400m, I dont think anything more than
Class 3.
- Scintillation - A horse who didnt revel in the wet track but
clearly a horse with some serious kick once he decides to let lose.
Not a horse who is straightforward and can probably do a few things wrong
but he is still promising. Reminds me of Always Win, but could be a
little better has he hasnt suffered from leg problems like AW.
- Sounds Better - A nice-ish conformed horse but with a weird
head carriage. Probably a miler and Class 2.
- Namjong Treasure - Heading for Beas River barring a miracle.
No really, he's a big horse with some ability but nothing outstanding.
His leg action suggests he will be prone to injuries...
- Give Me Five - A nice moving horse who will need a lot more
distance in time (1800m). Will probably win at big odds.

Other horses to follow:-
- Red Baron - A smallish compact horse who will stay 2000m and
more. He is underground with solid staying blood, I think he is one to
watch for in cack staying events.
- Escalation - A older horse to follow. Has taken ATM a while
to get right but has finally figured out how to relax him and how to race
him - from the back. He closes of well and is a game sort. Has a
peculiar action but it does not seem to bother him as he can perform on any
track bias. Though would probably prefer a bit of rain. Will
definitely get to class 2.
- Hidden Dragon - A horse that has finally come right after leaving
KW Lui in the dust. Only having lived up to the hype of coming 2nd to
Anabatik last season with 3 straight wins. I think if he can stay a
mile we'll see him in the Int. Races. Definitely one who still can
improve this season.
- Noble Man -
Suspect horses
- Anawin - A horse with a lot of blue blood. Maybe too much and
could be so inbred that it can hardly walk. But may also run like the
win...
- A-Tack - 1400-1800m. Dam is from Right Way's mother.
- Big Shot - Out of a Twig Moss dam. Unfortunately by the same
sire as Express Lot. Breeding suggests 1400-1600 and also nothing
particularly special. But you never know with a Twig Moss dam.
- China Cat - Probably will be a better horse over 1600m and on
dirt. Dam is a G1 winner in Argentina on dirt.
- Compassionate - A horse which the breeders balanced right.
Should have some ability. stays 1600m +
- Elettarin - A nice looker, not to sure on breeding.
Will stay about 2000m. Closely related to Hot Practitioner who is a
complete waste of space.
- Fortune Smiles - Rare to get many progeny from this sire.
Will appreciate wet weather. Probably Class 3, 1600m.
- Garden Party - A horse with solid breeding. Best distance a
mile.
- Great Idea - Class 3ish type of horse. Gets a
mile. Has proven to have some ability in Griffin year.
- Handbag Fortune - A sprinter (Snippets) bred with staying blood (Caerleon).
Although in terms of breeding it is nothing special because of the Snippets
blood, I think the mix of distances can work in this guy's favour.
1600m +
- Happy Kid - A horse who could probably stay any distance. I
like his breeding. Could be asking for anything from 1000m to 2000m.
- Harvey Mudd - Could eventually be a derby hope. 1600 to
2000m.
- Healthy Wealthy - Not to sure, but this mare has produced a lot of
progeny probably with good winning connections. Asking for a mile and
up. Could be something good.
- Highland Dawn - A horse with a solid breeding background, but his
confirmation sux. I think Class 3 will be a pretty good achievement.
- La Merveille - A horse with real staying blood. He is an ISG
which is a problem but I like the sire In The Wings cause of their
kick. ??
- Mount Medic - A solid horse on breeding. 1400m and up
- New Milestone - A half-brother to Hidden Dragon. Gotta be
good. Citidancer dam. But wont stay. much further than 1200m.
- Noble Heart - 3/4 brother to Excellence Forever.
- Pleasant Journey - Closely related to Dr. More. Should be
quite similar.
- Red Fireball - A horse with a a mile written all over it.
Should be something above average but will need to grow. Looks gross
in the pics.
- Savings Account - 1400m unknown quantity
- Sunny Win - Closely related to Straight Win. Could make a
OKish miler. Should at least be better than his stable mate Smiley
Win.
- Trois Amis - This is wierd. Previous progeny from the dam has
produced out and out sprinters even though the dam is a 1m 2f stayer.
Suggesting that progeny from this dam will take after it's sire.
Robellino being a miler, and will probably stay further then that.
Probably nothing special - Class 3.
- Try the Best - Big scoopy horse, probably best at a mile to
1800. Comparable to Splendid BoBo.
- Wei Shan - Like the breeding on this guy. Sprinter...
