Cherry Blossoms

Kurama looked out his window and inhaled the exquisite air, a delicate and fresh scent filled his nostrils while a tender breeze shifted his hair from here to there making a delicate rose perfume exit his red tendrils. He closed his eyes and thought about Hiei, as thoughts of the youkai filled his head he felt his heart rate increase and thump loudly in his ears, causing him to gasp for air. This was the effect that the fire youkai had on him. His warm blood pumped into his heart making it beat faster as he closed his eyes and continued to envision the object of his desire in his mind. He licked his lips and fantasized about kissing Hiei’s small tender lips, he moaned softly and caressed his lips with the tips of his fingers. He opened his eyes once again and admired the view, the cherry blossoms were in full bloom.

It was early April and the winter had just finished its course in Tokyo. Kurama impatiently awaited Hiei's return from the Makai. As he continued to admire the pink and white blossoms fall from the trees he reminisced about the past nights he spent alone in bed. His body feeling cold and lonely, longing to be in those warm Hiei’s warm arms. Oh how those sleepless nights tortured him, he twisted and turned in his bed with desire.. He fantasized constantly about the fire demon, he wanted him desperately. Kurama had forgotten the intense need of sexual desire. It had been so long since he’d been a youko. Back then it was easy to satisfy his desires, but now this was different, he knew that only Hiei could calm the intense fire burning in his heart and his body.

He took another deep breath savoring the delicate scent of the cherry blossoms. Then he sensed something strange, a scent not common to the area he lived in. A scent that only one demon he knew had, Hiei. He felt his heart skip a beat, he got nervous, how much he had wished for Hiei to return and visit him and keep him company. Now his wish had come true and he was a total mess. He was wearing his pajamas and his hair was tangled and unkept. He wanted to look beautiful and desirable for Hiei. He quickly kicked off his pajamas and walked around his room looking for something appropriate and nice to wear for the long awaited return of his object of desire. He took out a pair of underwear and then went into his closest and took out one of his trade mark kung-fu outfits. It was a combination of delicate white and succulent pink. It matched the cherry blossoms outside his window.

While he was doing all this he was being watched from a distance. The almond eyed demon licked his lips with desire as he watched Kurama prance around frantically his room getting ready. Hiei couldn’t help feel a tinge of jealousy, "Who could Kurama be getting ready for?" he thought as he jumped from tree to tree, finally meeting his destination, Kurama's window sill.

Kurama felt his presence and froze for a moment, he savored the excitement that went through his body. Such a unique feeling that’s highly indescribable. He turned around slowly and admired the figure that perched on his window sill. He inhaled deeply and bit his lip. He offered Hiei a sensual smile. Today would be a day of seduction, he would apply his most effective tricks to get into Hiei’s heart. But deep down he hoped that he was already there. "Welcome back," he said in a delicate but seductive tone.
Hiei looked on at Kurama and noticed the seductive change in his usual normal voice tone. He was so beautiful and magnificent. He looked into his eyes and couldn’t help but get lost in he deep sea of green. Kurama wore a special outfit that Hiei had never seen him in and his scent was so different, so hard to resist. Hiei couldn’t get enough from where he was, he needed to be closer to the youko. Hold him, kiss him, make love to him. He blushed at his naughty thoughts.

Kurama looked at the little red blush on Hiei’s cheek and wondered what the youkai could be thinking. He had learned a long time ago that the silent type were usually the naughtiest of them all. He hoped that this applied to Hiei. "How was your stay in the Makai?" asked Kurama as he approached Hiei.
"It was fine. How were things here?" asked Hiei as he saw Kurama stretch his arms out, reaching for him. He wasn’t sure what to do.
"Every thing was fine. But lonesome without your company," replied Kurama in a soft tone, as he reached for Hiei’s hands. He held them and guided the youkai on to the ground. They stood in front of each other holding hands. They could almost swear they heard the acceleration of each other's heartbeats.
"I’m glad you came back at this time of year. There is a special place I want to take you," said Kurama as his fingers caressed the outside of Hiei’s palm. Hiei didn’t know what to make of this and Kurama thought he had gone mad for being so direct. He should move slower but he was tired of waiting for Hiei to make the first move. It was now or never. He chose now.
"Where?" asked Hiei delighted by the special attention Kurama gave him. He felt his head getting dizzy. He almost fell into Kurama’s arms but he resisted and stood still in his place. How he longed to be in Kurama's arms, to caress his hair, to savor his scent, to kiss his skin. He breathed harder as these thoughts went through his mind. It was getting harder and harder to resist the temptation of falling into Kurama’s arms and getting lost in his warmth and his delicate scent. Just one step and his head would be nuzzled in Kurama’s chest. Body to body, heat against heat.

To his dismay Kurama let go of his palms and opened a draw in his vanity and took out strange looking box, it was wooden and the top was carved with different symbols that looked like entwining vines. Kurama then turned to Hiei and said, "I’ll meet you downstairs." He waved and opened the door and disappeared into another part of the house.

Hiei stood in Kurama’s room for a few seconds looking down at his hands, they trembled slighty, he was nervous but he felt excited at the same time. This was not like him. He quickly jumped out Kurama's window and awaited him on the sidewalk. They walked in silence as Kurama held the box in his hands along with a white blanket, Hiei had his hands in his pockets and almost took leaps to keep up with Kurama's long strides.
Kurama also felt overcome by a sense of nervousness and excitment, what he was about to do was insane, but he had to give it a try. For once he opened himself to his youko nature and trusted his instincts. Hiei looked up at him from time to time, wondering where they were going. He noticed that they were a lot of humans lingering around.
"Why are they some many ningen around?" he asked.
"Because spring is here and the cherry blossoms are in full bloom. Humans in Japan usually spend a lot of time outdoors during this season to admire the beauty of the cherry blossoms."
"Oh," replied Hiei. "Where are we going?" he then asked.
"You’ll see. You’ll like it," replied Kurama as he looked at Hiei and gave him a tender smile.

After walking a few more blocks they reached Yoyogi park, they walked a bit more until they were in a remote area. The calm wind blew the light-pink petals from their stems and onto the ground. It was almost like a rain of petals around them, one that surrounded them like a perfect blanket of love. Kurama spread the blanket onto the soft ground and ushered Hiei to take a seat. Hiei took off his cloak, revealing a blue sleeveless shirt and his dark pants with his many belts.

Kurama looked at him for a while, he put the mysterious box in between Hiei and himself. "Open it," he said. Hiei was a bit surprised, he wondered if the content of the box was for him. No one had ever given him anything since the tear gem. He looked at Kurama and opened the box slowly, inside he found a flower. It was a cherry blossom. "They say Japanese like cherry blossoms because of the shape and color of the petals reflect people’s ideal notions of purity and simplicity. Also because we are touched by the blossoms that are so fragile and short-lived. Hiei, what I’m trying to say is that what I feel for you is pure and simple, Love. But I don’t want it to be short lived and fragile. That’s why I shall nurture this blossom into a tree that will bloom in every season in the garden that is my heart. And I…"
"Love?" asked Hiei a bit astonished by the sudden confession.
"I…I understand if you don’t feel the same. But I…"
"Shh…" silenced Hiei as he brushed the tender blossom petals against his lips. Meaning that he wanted the commitment of keeping their love alive and time tested. "I don’t know how to say this, but…"
"You don’t love me back?" asked Kurama as he felt a knot in his throat.
"No, I mean yes…well, I want to you to keep the cherry blossom tree alive throughout the seasons," he replied with a smile that he hid behind the flower.

Kurama didn’t realize that he was holding his breath, he breathed a sign of relief. He looked deep into Hiei’s eyes and knew that he was sincere. "Oh, Hiei, you don’t know how much I’ve longed for this moment."
"I know... I have too," responded Hiei very silently. He wasn’t used to expressing his emotions like this, but he had to get it out of his system. He licked his lips and closed the distance between Kurama and himself. He caressed Kurama’s face gently and pulled it closer to his. He looked straight into Kurama’s eyes and placed a soft kiss on his lips. Hiei’s first kiss. He suckled on Kurama’s bottom lip while Kurama suckled his top lip. Kurama’s tongue escaped it’s enclosure and brushed Hiei’s tender lips. They held each other and lay on the blanket and continued to savour each other for the first time. The wind blew softly leaving them covered in a mantle of cherry blossoms. And just like spring, a new romance has begun.

The end.
