ANAHID MELKONIAN'S POETRY

JUDGEMENT

By Anahid Melkonian

Translated from Armenian by Daniel Janoyan
Glendale, December 30, 1999

We need to differentiate between dark and light
And between clean love from spoiled and enticing love.
In order for our conscience not to be burdened by sin
We need to separate the good from the evil.

In order not to be burned by the furnace of dark hells
We need to be confident of our role in this life.

So that we won't lose our home and fatherland
We need to hold together just like our mountain.
