| About Me! |
| My name is Rachel and i'm 14 from Essex (England) i'm not actually a Hindu but i follow the religion. I first got into Hinduism a few months ago but i've been aware of it since around the age of 8. I was taught most of what i know by a friend of the religion and the rest assisted by school, other friends and basic internet research. I'm learning to speak gujarati and then hopefully i will move on to learn sanskrit. My main hobbies are, swimming, goin out to the pictures, watchin films at home, music, internet things and studying Hinduism. |
| About Hinduism! |
| Hinduism is different from any other religion as it has no one founder and doesn't follow one set of sacred scriptures. Hinduism is built upon the beliefs that pass over many centuries, it is thought that it started from a tribe that settled near the River Indus in India and then as the tribal members spread they took with them their beliefs and passed them on. The main sacred scriptures that Hindus follow are the Vedas of which there are four of, the Upanishads and for some the Baghavad Gita. Hindu people usually use their mother tongue be it gujarati, hindu, telugu or punjabi or another but sometimes they will use sanskrit for holy readings! |
