Antonio Garner declared ineligible |
1/16/01 |
Hillside junior Antonio Garner has been declared ineligable. North Carolina's third ranked at 135 will not be able to wrestle until he brings his grades up, which will result in him missing all wrestling events for the rest of the season. Hillside's regulations state that you may not fail more than one of your seven classes which is the obvious reason why Garner cannot wrestle. The Hornets will greatly miss this wrestler but look forward to seeing him in 2002-03. |

Hillside's 145-lb Bryant Reams and 160-lb Demaris Thorpe will travel to Charlotte's Cricket Arena to try to complete their year long goal, a state championship. Reams is the defending state champion, with a 38-4 record(perfect against 3A opponents) and has been ranked #1 much of the year. Thorpe is the surprise of the year as he has struggled since being ranked earlier in the year, his low point coming at the Sonny Inskip Tournament. Reams comes into the tournament a #1 seed and will face #4 seed Michael Osborne of Mooresville. Thorpe comes in a #4 seed and will face Joseph Walker of Manteo. |
