Joan's World
Hi, welcome to my page.......I hope to put something in these pages (when I have finished) which will be of interest to everyone, with links to other pages, which I also find interesting, and I hope you do too!
First of all, This first page is due for a major overhaul!, now something about me.......
I am an Englishwoman living on the Central Coast of NSW, Australia, 90km north of Sydney.
I am married with two grown children, a daughter, sadly widowed, a son and a daughter law, and four lovely granddaughters, two are teenagers, and one is 23yrs of age, one 22yrs, one  21, the youngest being 19. We are a very close family and love getting together as often as we can........both my daughter, son and respective families,  live a two hour drive away, My daughter andthree granddaughters live in Sydney, one of whom is a police officer, and my son and his other daughter  live south west of Sydney.
My lifestyle is fairly casual, altho' I do enjoy getting dressed up to go to the theatre or dine out, enjoying good food and fine wine!
I also enjoy cooking, plus making and drinking! cocktails when we entertain.
I am a Registered Nurse by profession , as is my daughter, both of us starting when we were in our early 30's, and we both thoroughly enjoy our work. I am a Member of the NSW College of Nursing, travelling to Sydney often to attend courses held there, to maintain my level of expertise. My daughter works in a Sydney teaching hospital., and hasreceived an Award for Excellence in Nursing. She is also a Clinical Nurse Consultant. My husband is a mine supervisor (coal) and my son is also a miner, coming from a long line of coal miners, going back to the last century! Finally, but not least, especially in her eyes! is my apricot poodle, who likes to think she is human! and who am I to tell her otherwise! :)
My interests include reading, music of all kind, knitting, ceramic work, "chatting" and browsing the net, and of course I love making web pages.
My favourite authors include Stephen King, Bryce Courteney, Patricia Cornwell, Jean Plaidy, James Herriot, Robin Cook, and I love reading autobiographies, so my reading is as diverse as my music.
My music taste is as I said eclectic, my favourite classical piece being Dvorak's "New World Symphony", but I have many favourite artists too numerous to mention but including Elvis, Johnny Cash, Marty Robbins,Garth Brooks, Celine Dion, Shania Twain, Queen, Rita McNeil, k.d. lang, The Corrs, Reba McEntyre, Bryan Adams, Mary Duff, Daniel O'Donnell, Tammy Wynette, George Jones, Michael Crawford, Barbara Dickson, Dolly Parton, Amanda Norman Sell, Mandy Barnett, my friend Eric Bogle, Welsh Chours, Brass Bands, Gospel Music, and my very good friend Shaylee Wilde, but the one who stands out for me is Patsy Cline!
My favourite movie    hmmmmmm...many, but I enjoyed Braveheart, Ghost, all three  Godfathers, Titanic, Saving Private Ryan, Muriel's Wedding, Henry V, Richard 111, Brassed Off, Sweet Magnolias, and The Full Monty.I love a good comedy,  enjoying a good laugh, one of my favourite comedians is Billy Connelly. I also enjoy historical dramas, again a very diverse taste.
Exercise...YUK!!! a dirty word, although I have to admit I love swimming, being fortunate to have my own pool. I live life to the full, we only have one, so don't waste it!!!
My birthday is 18th May, making my star sign Taurus, and I might add a typical bull !!
My extended family are all in England, but we have made several visits back, the most recent being in March - May last year. Several members of my family have visited us "downunder" and thoroughly enjoyed the experience.

I have made many friends on the net, too numerous to mention but you know who you are............ I was lucky enough to meet a couple of them on my recent visit to England in 1999, plus I met a friend in New Zealand, last year.
I also belong to a country music group, where I have made many friends and learnt a heap more about country music.

One friend I must mention, suddenly sadly passed away in 1998,  and is sadly missed by all who knew her, for her bubbly and friendly personality. I miss her very much for her past love and support during a very difficult period in my life, and for her loyalty and friendship.

Thoughts
We send condolences to all people, of all the Countries  who lost loved ones on September 11th 2001. But especially to America who lost many souls, including many of their Finest and Bravest, who died trying to save others.
Truly, the Ultimate Sacrifice.
They will never be forgotten.
Condolences also to the families of all the souls from many countries but mainly Australia, who perished in Bali. To the Balinese, may your country and citizens recover quickly.
May They Rest In Peace in The Arms Of The Lord.
