2003 Classroom Activities
June

Little House Activities
The first week of this month we will be working on the Letter D in our My Little Primer. We have had to take some time off for family things but will begin again the first week in June. We are actually looking forward to getting back to our studies.
Geography/History
This summer is going to be exciting for us as we are starting our Va. History Unit Study. We will travel around VA. and explore all the Historical areas.  We will be traveling to Williamsburg Va. and Jamestown on the 21st of this month and staying for a weekend. We will be able to attend a re-enactment of the Civil War and many other things. Be sure to check back and read about all the exciting things we got into while there. We will also be able to see historical sites near home such as the Natural Bridge, The Dixie Caverns, the Gem caverns and more. It should prove to be an exciting summer here.
Sign Language
We are also continuing Sign Language. We are using
The Joy of Signing which we all enjoy. by the end of the month we will have covered the history, the alphabet and word signs for... Family memebers and Religion. My 11 year old Daughter (Mariah) loves sign language, she makes it fun for all of us!!! I hope to be able to put our learning to use and have the children attend a school for the deaf for a day.
Science
We will be learning about "Our Body". I have the cutest lil book that give scripture for each body part, so we will be useing that (it is called "Fun Projects for Hands-on Charactor building") with this we will be tracing ourselves on Banner paper and labeling them as we go along. The children can't wait to hang their bodies all over the house. I think I better warn Daddy which day we are going to hang them though so when he comes in from work at 9am he won't think there are a half a dozen intruders in the house. HAHA
Math
Everyone has their own math going. Mariah is working with adding fractions and learning her multiplication tables. Destiny is learning addition and subtraction with double digets and so is Josh. We play the M&M game and Hersey's fractions. They are so much fun! I also got something new this year. It is called Math Wrap-ups and it seems to have really helped Mariah with her Multiplication. Josh and Destiny love dancing and jumping around to the music. What a hoot.

We still love making lap books and will add them as we do. For now you can check out the ones we have already completed by clicking on the link below.
"Flap Book"

Be sure to check back frequently., I add all the exciting things as we go along.
May the Lord bless your teaching and may your children always love to learn.
