Godzilla:
Hideki Matsui, the New York Yankees slugger, has been known by a very
honorable moniker since his high school days. Crowned "Godzillia"
for his powerful bat and his quiet, modest nature, Japan's favorite
son and most popular player wears the nickname gracefully.
After becoming Japan's most eligible bachelor and the country's most
revered professional baseball player, Matsui regretfully left the Asian nation
for New York City and the MLB American League.
In
2003, his first season with the New York Yankees, Matsui's stardom
shined brightly among the American League rookies. Although, he
finished second in the voting for AL Rookie of the Year, his play
helped the New York Yankees win another American League Championship.
With
his powerful bat, keen base-running instincts and superb fielding
skills, Hideki Matsui is one of the world's best major league baseball players, not to mention the
most popular.
