Our last visit to North Middlesex for a long time if I have anything to do with it. Mr Perko booked here on the basis that they used to give us a good deal with every 3rd person going free once we had 16 golfers. Sadly, they have changed club managers here and that deal has long gone.
North Middx runs over a very small piece of land and some the holes are very dull on the front 9. The rough was a problem even though it was short balls just sat down and couldn’t be found. This cut back the drinking time for some. The greens had been hollow tined so there was some whingeing over this but most found the greens true but difficult to read.
In a low scoring day, Danny Moore scored a creditable 34 points with one poor drive into someones back garden costing him points. Adrian Ellsdon caused controversy by signing a card without the points worked out first. The scorer then gave him 32. Andy Carter checked the card AFTER Glenn Wright had been given the runners up trophy and prize and found that Ade’s two birdies (both outrageous chip- ins) had not been scored correctly. In the end Adrian got the recognition and the trophy for 2nd place as Danny beat him comfortably on countback.
Headbanger won £150 in the blind pairs auction that was well organized by Glyn Edgington. Fines were dispensed by Paul Coombs who had to begin proceedings by fining himself for knocking a bottle of wine over the table and himself.
Weather was great e.g. no rain after one of the worst spells of July weather imaginable.
