KONTRADIKSYON:(Contradiction)

The name of this site came from the song entitled "Kontradiksyon", a non-mainstream track the author has heard through friends.

The author believes that their are internal and external contradictions each person has to deal with every second of his existence.

In the absence of contradictions, material things and objective conditions won't change.

This site is created and maintained as a requirement for the author's Online Journalism Class under Prof. Danny Arao. Written works of different nature will be posted in this site, which hopefully will foster critical thinking, analysis and will further encourage the readers to make a stand and act on different issues.

PERA: Saan nga ba napupunta? --------------------------------------------------------------------------

ACLE: Facing reality

Unpopular realities captured in reels.

Three films by the Southern Tagalog Exposure(STex), an independent multimedia
collective of young artists and workers based in Southern Tagalog (Region IV),were shown as an Alternative Classroom Learning Experience (ACLE) last January 24 in the University of the Philippines Diliman.

"Pushing the Parameters" is a documentary about people's lawyers and their experiences because of “lawyering for the people.” The film shows lawyers who were killed while handling cases such as land disputes and human rights violations. Killing the people's lawyers, as the film showed, became the easiest way to stop them from bringing the law to the level the masses understood. Pushing the Parameters conveyed that "legal struggle is only an aspect of struggle" so meta-legal actions should be explored.

fromEdge Genciagan of STex said people's lawyers are "not ordinary" lawyers. "They (people's lawyers) are experiencing persecution perpetrated by the government," he said.

The second film, “Red Saga” is an experimental film said Genciagan. There was no narration or dialogues, only background music through out the film.It showed the roots of armed struggle in the countryside; how an innocent boy who once played freely in the rice fields ended up holding firearms and fighting the military, one of the repressive state apparatuses. “Red Saga” is part of the Kontra-Agos Film Festival and was directed by Gabriela Krista Dalena.
