A LASTING TRIBUTE TO CAROLINE

Caroline closed her eyes and passed into eternal life on March 08, 2005 with her parents George and Marta as well as her loving family by her side after a valiant battle with heart disease at the age of 6 years and 11 months. Caroline overcame all odds by living longer then any of her doctors expected. She exceeded her life expectancy because she was blessed with abundant and unconditional love from her family, friends, medical staff, and teachers. Although we dearly love, and miss you Caroline, you have forever left us a permanent footprint of your life in our hearts, memories, and souls. Caroline was an inspiration to all with her amazing strength and resilience throughout the country.

Caroline was an independent, creative, and funny girl. She liked to spend her time working on crafts, drawing, coloring with markers & crayons, watching videos, and reading stories. She liked to dance, cook, the color yellow, and learn from her teachers. Caroline enjoyed the outdoors and looked forward in celebrating birthday parties with her friends even though she missed her birthday by one month.

Caroline had a zest for life and will be remembered not for the things she wasn't able to do, but the obstacles she overcame. Caroline's spirit and memory will remain in the hearts of her family, friends, and all who she touched during her brief time on earth.

Despite Caroline’s heart condition she had a lot of energy, zest for life, playfulness, melody for music, and the ability to dance. She enjoyed life as evidenced by her continual comebacks and E.C.M.O. I can remember vividly when Caroline was two weeks of age and she had a need for a pacifier. She didn’t cry or want someone to hand her the pacifier but instead she put her head down and used her right hand to push the pacifier into her mouth. In the end, as we all know, nature was cruel to her and to all of us.

We can never experience the things other parents’ could with their daughters’ such as Caroline’s 1st high school prom, graduation from college, and our princess bride. Caroline was our future and now she is only our memory. In a few days, as we look at the clear night sky we will wonder: how was Caroline’s day, how does she look today, and is she being cared for by the relatives that predeceased her, but one thing is for sure: Caroline will be our precious little angel. We will remember her to our last gasp of breath. On behalf of our daughter, who would say and wave when “Bye!, Bye!; Bye!, Bye!” Until we all meet again.

We would like to thank everyone for their advice, emails, prayers, and support. We would like to also extend our great gratitude to the staff, nurses and doctors at Connecticut Children's Hospital and Boston Children's Hospital for their warmth, kindness, and devotion to Caroline.

May God bless each and everyone of you.
