GIRLS, GIRLS, GIRLS!!
New Paintings by Holly Ruth Anderson

Public Lounge (3289 Main Street, Vancouver, Canada) is proud to present the debut solo show by Vancouver Lowbrow heroine Holly Ruth Anderson opening November 17th at 8pm

Beginning in the days of the now legendary Brickyard shows and throughout the fever-pitched run of the influential Tart Gallery, the work of Holly Ruth Anderson has been a consistant crowd favorite. A staple in group shows, her trademark oil paintings of sad-eyed pinup girls have raised her to the very top of the pop art bunch. Along with such local luminaries as Vicki M. and Nicole Steen, Anderson has helped carve a niche for female artists in the largely male dominated Pop\ Lowbrow genre, proving that it's not really a man's world after all.

Girls, Girls, Girls!! the first full solo show by Holly Ruth, is a collection of oil paintings of ...well...girls, of course, treading the fine line between fine art and illustative design definitive of the lowbrow style, calling to mind influences encompassing tattoo design, pin-up art and comic book illustration, all the while remaining very much paintings in the classic sense.
Her work combines a street-wise savvy with wide-eyed innocence that is a valid reflection of the artist, her life, and her unique sensibilities. It's little wonder she has become a much sought after illustrator and designer within the alternative music scene, pumping out posters, T-shirts and custom painted instruments for the likes of Victorian Pork, Big John Bates and Billy-bill Midnite, among others, as well as designing her own sellout line of T-shirts, with more exciting projects in the works.
So, come on down, grab a drink and hang out with the girls. You'll be glad you did.
