One thing in particular was "The Magic Mushroom Grower's Guide" or MMGG for short. Within this guide was instructions on how to grow your own magical shrooms at home with a very small investment in money and time. I read and re-read the guide and couldn't believe how easy it sounded. I was convinced that I too could accomplish this simple, inexpensive grow. I accquired all the necessary materials and ordered my spore syringe and got ready for the grow. I followed the instructions exactly how the MMGG explained and less than two months later, I was picking fresh mushrooms that were growing right in my living room! After drying them properly, my wife and I decided to give them a try. We woke up on a rainy Sunday morning and both ate about 1 gram each. We weren't sure what to expect but the trip was very pleasant. We ended up tripping for about three to four hours the first time.

The point here folks... I read, I followed instructions and I was successful!
Well, now I'm ready to do it again. This time, I have decided to put up an online diary, both for my own scientific documentation and for people that are still researching before they try their hand at homegrown shrooms.
What the heck is a Tek??
Last time I grew, I used the MMGG. After doing some more research, I realized that I was basically using the "PF" tek. "What is the "PF" tek," you ask? What the heck is a "tek" for that matter? A "tek", as far as I can tell, is a documented technique on how to grow these magical little things. The documentation and information (recipes and method of growing) comes from the originator of the "tek" (technique). Hence, there are different "teks" to use from different originators.
The "PF Tek" comes from Psylocybe Fanaticus, a pioneer in the home cultivation of shrooms. The MMGG borrows heavily, no, make that VERY heavily from the PF Tek. They may sound like two different animals but there are only marginal differences between the two.
The PF tek utilizes brown rice flour and vermiculite as the substrate on which the mushrooms grow. It is a simple yet easy technique that is pretty much fool-proof... If you READ and FOLLOW the instructions. Sterility and moisture content seem to be the key factors of success.
As far as I'm concerned, the PF Tek is the easiest to use for first time and novice cultivators.
