The scenery as you approach Death Valley is spectacular.
Death Valley itself is bleak, but very varied.
California has some great beaches: Manhattan Beach (left) and Silver Strand(right).
And some great sunsets. The lower one is over the world's tallest thermometer in Baker, the Gateway to Death Valley.
I loved everything about San Fransisco - the photos don't really do it justice.
My one complaint would be that everyone had sold out of Armistead Maupin's "Tales of the City" series of books!

Bryce Canyon is absolutely stunning from all angles.
Zion National Park is lovely too.
We stopped for a picnic in Quail Creek State Park.
