The Blind Date Story

The original Blind Date, Tod Osborn, Bob Dreher, Ken Foley, Fred Williams at the Ridge Garden in 1991. Whats with the umbrella on the head, man? Thanks to Kathy Cullom for the picture!

Bob Dreher and Tod Osborn met in 1989 at their mutual place of employment,
an Aerospace fabricating company in central Illinois.
They had been in competing bands years before and weren't sure if they would be comatible at first. But as they dicussed the music buisness and voiced their complaints they realized they had alot in common. And they both wanted to make money!
Two guys does not a band make, so they each set out to recruit two more members. They decided Don "Fred" Williams would handle the Lead vocal and rythym guitar chores while Ken Foley would share Bass and guitar duties with Bob. See picture above. Ken didn't last too long so they called on the "Iceman" Billy Ice. With a reputation as a rock solid Bassman they knew he was a keeper!
They got together and jammed a little and it all went well. They had around 100 years experience in the music buisness between all of them, so it didn't take long to get the ball rolling.
Their first gig together was at the Ridge Garden in Ridgefarm, Il.. All went well and they were recieved well. The outdoor beer garden was a perfect setting for dancing and partying and Jim, the bar owner, booked them for the rest of the season that night.
It didn't take long for the word to get around about Blind Date, and soon they had their books full and were playing every Friday and Saturday night and occasionally on a Sunday at the Big 4 Tavern or at The Friendly Tavern.
Now having completed 8 years, they have outlasted most bands in the area and there seems to be no end in sight. Always striving to keep the show entertaining, they are getting ready to add more new material to an already huge songlist.
Stay tuned to this page as we'll be recounting some of our experiences along the way, most of them humorous! Like the time somebody pulled Bob's pants down onstage.......... STAY TUNED!
