MEMORIES of BERLIN and Other GDR Cities

My first travel outside my country. It was winter in Berlin. Wow.

This is VOLKSBUHNE, Concert Hall, the venue of my first performance in Berlin. 17 Feb 1987. This picture was taken by Katharina, my interpreter, using my instamatic camera.

Katharina is also Scorpio like me. She speaks tagalog like a machine. She spoke my language without the filipino soul. Magaling mag-tagalog pero hindi kami magkaintindihan.

This is my friend Attila (The Stockbroker). Libra. He plays violin and mandola. He was the first to jam with me in Berlin. When the concert organizers included Philippines and Britain among the selected 5 countries for a tour in other GDR cities, he jammed with all the way. First was with the song Oy Utol, Buto't Balat Ka Na'y Natutulog Ka Pa, and especially PAYAG KA BA? where he also sang other stanzas in Deutsch. He speaks fluent Deutsch. Sikat na punk si Attila sa Europe. Pinagkakaguluhan ng mga kabataan. Hinahabol ng press.

Sa loob ng bus during the tour. Beside Attila is his interpreter Jorg (Sagittarius). Jorg is also interpreter for the UK punk group called The Neurotics.

This is Colin, member of The Neurotics, a 3-pc band from UK.

The Group from Costa Rica. Fidel the sax player and arranger; the bass player, my friend Jorge the oboe player=isinulat ko sa nota ang kanyang part sa Payag Ka Ba; and other members na di ko nakuha ang mga pangalan.

Before the concert in Dresden at an old museum that used to be an old castle. This is a detail of a photo with John Mortimer.

Katharina and friend John Mortimer outside the concert hall in Dresden.

In my room Hotel Stadt Berlin Rm 1218

John and Katharina. At the background is an old castle that now became an FDJ house.

Outside the Presscon Bldg., where I was interviewed by Moscow Radio and Bulgaria Radio.
